Epsom and Ewell 1 Camberley 3

After a fairly non descript first half (i.e virtually nothing happened ) we took the lead with a goal which was nearly missed but a flap from the keeper bounced it on to Jay Holden and it bounced in. After that Epsom played some really good stuff for 20 mins or so . Then Camberley equalised from a poor defensive goal from our point of view and having done virtually nothing chance wise themselves the game turned . In the first minute of extra time they got a deflected shot - by the end of the half hour we were wishing they'd done it 2 minutes earlier and saved half hour of our lives .

The effect of the equaliser was like letting the air out of a lilo and there was little in response from our side and no surprise when a third came . A classic goals change games game - best of luck to Cambo in the next round . There's still the packed league programme to look forward to even without any more weather.

AS USUAL EEFC AN HONEST REPORT ON A DULL, POOR GAME IT HAS TO BE SAID. IT APPEARED THAT NO-ONE WAS INTERESTED UP UNTIL THE 1ST GOAL (VERY SLOPPY) AS YOU SAY THEN E&E KICKED INTO GEAR BUT GIVING AWAY A SLOPPY GOAL THEMSELVES EVERYONE WAS HOPING FOR SOMEONE TO SCORE TO AVOID THE TORTURE OF THIS SLOW PACED BORING GAME, BUT IT WASN'T TO BE.

ANYWAY WELL DONE CAMBERLEY WHO JUST ABOUT NUDGED IT.

WRONG SELECTION BY THE SOUND OF THINGS, AS MOLESEY & GUILDFORD SOUNDED VERY ENTERTAINING & SOMEWHAT INTERESTING TO SAY THE LEAST !

Weeble, Steve Coultas did not play left wing that was Jamie Lee Smithers up against the Grandad with the right foot wand.

I think Sports will be a lot more happier with the point than us, as I felt we were in control of the match for large periods of the game and only an own goal from Coultas seem to lift Sports into action, our keeper did how ever make two decent saves towards the end, but Lammas missed at least six good chances to finish the game off. I thought our left winger had a great game and turned the right back inside out a few times, one time he got beyond the full back only to fall over the Sports right backs Zimmer frame! Lol!

Ellers not sure you watched the same game the first half our gk never had a save to make apart from the flap on a cross granted first half possesion was yours but no clear cut chances second half we pressed an yes a fotrtunate goal sparked us into life but not at 100% your keeper made two good saves an saved one that was going in gary however never had a save to make a coupla shots well wide are half chancrs an only a player with a wand like mine could score em lol

Going on each half you edged first us the second a fair result in my book !!

Grandad?? 32 but hanging in there an animal if you need some after school training on how to kick a ball straight give me call lol shank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Taken from a response on another thread, in case anyone was interested in the game - apologies for the other subject matter being included.

Guildford started with 9 of the 11 that began against Leiston, with Heavy coming in and, in my opinion, adding to what they had. Other than that, Penson started, whereas he came on as a sub Saturday. We started with pretty much our side from Saturday, except made two changes, one in central midfield and one up front. The way the game was played it was clear from my point of view that both sides were intent on winning the game. I think we deserved the victory overall, taking a lead just before half time, only for Greaves to capitalise on some sloppy defending within minutes, then for us to score an excellent second a few minutes after. Second half was nip and tuck and they equalised through Camara and it was game on, with Guildford looking like they may turn the screw, only for us to get back into it and score a third with about ten to go. We then had a lad sent off for a two yellows and battled lke hell to hold the lead and deservedly did so. After the game the Guildford view was that we deserved it but the league was the main thing - which it is - and they were glad to be out of the cups. I would love to still be in the Vase and cannot think anyone would feel otherwise. It is my view, and I have aired this previously, that any side I send out is there to win the game and it would be wrong for them to do otherwise. We are in 3 cups at present. The Surrey Senior we have Ash at home and then a potential trip to Carshalton, who my mate Mark Butler runs and I would love to pit my wits against them - as will all my players. I am not 100% about which round it is, but I would imagine 4 games maximum to win it. We are also in the CCL cup of course, with a trip to RPV or Farleigh to come. After that it is maybe another 2 games to win it. Finally, we are in the Southern Combination, with Sandhurst at home to come. This cup is one that most sides use for squad players, as the two squads for the postpones game the other day confirmed, so with about 20 players being the norm for most of us, it is workable but not an inconvenience. Should we get to either or both of the main finals, it will be something to look forward to and the games will be arranged towards the end of the season and would not be too likely to impose on our league programme. I honestly feel that the cup runs enhance our season and the longer we are in them the better for team morale and game time. The fans love it and occasionally it can take away the daily grind of chasing league points. Prior to the game I was perfectly relaxed about things, as my view was it would have no bearing on who wins the league, although our aim was to maintain what is an extremely good run of results. Like most sides we will be doing Saturday/Tuesday and this can obviously have an impact, but we know before the season starts that this is possible. Players prefer playing to training and it makes things easier as a manager to get people up for games rather than training, so I am happy with our progression. My players would have been gutted to have gone out last night, because they wanted to win the game, nothing else. It will be a happier camp at training tomorrow than it would have been had we lost. The league is another thing and both us, Guildford and the chasing pack willl get on the with this on Saturday and that will deal with itself. Last night was a cup victory, another good performance, and a good night. We all have different views on this, and I totally respect Kevin's decision to play these games and possible reasons behind it, so no crticism there. One more thing we all agreed on last night - the poor referee was shocking and totally out of his depth! With only a handful of games scheduled for this week, why not get someone more experienced to do such a high profile game? I do not like to dig referees out in general, and actually feel the blame lies with those that appointed the poor chap, not him. If I played a kid who could not cope with such a big game and he was shown up, I would take full responsibilty for the error, as I would think that I should know better. We had a lad dismissed fro two cheap cards who will now miss a game, and a lad booked when their full back smashed a free kick up his ar*e from a few yards and was deemed not to have retreated! Never mind, bring on the next game!
