Match OFF Tue 25 Jan

Waste of time Chessington being in this League. Nothing more than an hours light drizzle in over a week and tonights games off. Puts clubs like Cove, RPV, Westfield and Colliers Wood into perspective, they all have serious ground issues yet they have got their games on last weekend and tonight. The water table is not that high and the games off at 1pm , I will leave you to have your views but this is ridiculous

Surprise!!!!

I am starting to agree with Kroons maybe pitch should be part of ground grading?

Was talking about this subject last night, forget about a nice 100 seater stand being part of groundgrading, without a playable pitch,no one would be there to sit in it.

Nice Changing rooms, lights, and a decent pitch should be a priority. But where would the funding come from?

Does seem crazy, maybe they should offer to play their home games on the oppostion's pitch.... surely they will never fit all their home games in if they keep being called off... its England is always going to bl00dy rain! I live 10 mins from Chessington's ground.... my back garden isnt that bad.... only trouble is it's not big enough for a 2 a-side... let alone 11!

100 seats that no more than 10% get filled.

Yes 100 seats or whatever for Diadora/Doc Martens but really that many for CCL? Surely 50 is enough.

I think if you polled most followers of this level of football, they would rather stand than sit.

AGREE CHERTSEYTOWN, FEEL SORRY FOR THE PLAYERS AT CHESS & HOOK THEY NEVER SEEM TO HAVE GAMES, LIKE LAST YEAR THEY WILL BE PLAYING SAT, TUES, THURS, SAT. WHEN I GO THERE, YOU HEAR OF THEM GOING TO A NEW GROUND/NEW STADIUM BEING BUILT WELL THEY BETTER HURRY UP COS THERES NO FUTURE THERE FOR ANY OF THE PLAYERS. CAN YOU IMAGINE IF THEY WERE TOP OF THE LEAGUE HOW THE PLAYERS WOULD FEEL HAVING TO PLAY 4 GAMES A WEEK TO WIN THE LEAGUE, BUT THEN AGAIN WITH SO FEW GAMES BEING PLAYED, THERE WOULD BE NO CHANCE OF THAT HAPPENING COS THEY ARE ALWAYS ON CATCH UP.!

I AM NOT BEING DISRESPECTFUL BUT I REALLY CANT SEE WHY PLAYERS ARE ATTRACTED TO CLUBS WHO HAVE GROUND PROBLEMS TO SUCH A HIGH DEGREE, ALL THE PLAYERS WANT TO DO IS PLAY WEEKELY, HOW CAN CHESSS & HOOK PLAYERS EVER GET FIT ? ........ITS A SHAME REALLY !

SO CHERTSEYTOWN, I ASSUME YOU'RE OFF TO SEE MOLESEY AND GUILDFORD TONIGHT ?

I've waited until todays events have finished before posting the circumstances of the day

The match was called off at around 11AM this morning by a local referree despite the match official only coming from Windsor and no rain forecast until 10pm tonight-WHY????!!!!

There was no reason to do an inspection so early and without the appointed match official. There is no way any match official could fairly call of the pitch as unplayable at that time with the forecast also available. Either we must question that official or the pitch was in a poor condition at the time of the inspection?! However less than three hours later the pitch was perfectly playable so you can come to your own conclusions as to what happened at around 11am

When we were informed at around 1pm we immediately dispatched club officials to the pitch and informed the League. Our Chairman, Secretary (a magistrate) and two other officials all visited and arrived between 3pm and left at 6pm-the pitch was totally playable and the postponement is a total joke. The League were informed and supposedly a Surrey FA official has also attended. Our officials were given grief when wanting to see the pitch! The pitch was thoroughly inspected and was quoted as being in 'ten times better' condition than Dorkings (sorry Dorking) on Sat. Chessington may have been within 'the rules' by calling in a local official but not surely at 11am on a day with no bad weather predicted? They have taken us all for fools and their only defence is that they have gained nothing. NOT TRUE-we have learnt that the Planning Committee are attending tomorrow and a pitch looking good surely benefits Chessingtons ambitions that they should get planning as a Senior football Club? The pitch might have been churned up but that's football. Chessington clearly want to play games on their terms when it suits them and have taken the League for a ride. We and every other Club have played when it doesnt suit for many reasons. Chessington don't want to run the risk of ruining their pitch with so many games still to go and that with tomorrows visit is the reason.

It gets worse because after the postponement both I and my opposite manager were keen to play either tomorrow night or Thursday. Both squads were put on standby and the League were happy. Even Chessingtons Sec was 'happy in principle' but at 9.30pm tonight we were told that the owners have refused again. Chessingtons owners only want toplay when it suits them and that is bottom line unfair on the rest of the League and CHEATING. To be clear we have no issue with their playing management who wanted to play and I actually feel sorry for them. Chessington should join a summer league and let every other Club that has numerous unpaid workers that help get pitches playable get on with it in the normal playing season. To be clear we see that as a totally different issue to Clubs that have genuine pitch issues such as Cove and Colliers Wood.

On that basis CTFC will be putting forward a motion at the AGM this summer that Chessington are excluded from the League as they are taking the mickey with all of us. It is not on that they play only once or twice at home during Nov-March and it impacts all over the place. If that is not procedure then we will look at making a formal complaint any other way. Statements are being prepared already for the League and will be with them shortly. We just want to play football, that is what we all 'signed up for' and not at just when it suits any particular Club.

its not like this postponement comes as a surprise is it though?

its a regular occurence and now suggestions of wrong doing seems to have been proven!

I have already assumed cove's match at chess and hook will be off on saturday.

wouldnt say we have issues - ours normally drains quite well.. we did have a problem over the weekend with a one off flooding but special machinery drafted in sorted it in time for tonight

We had them in the Southern CC the other year and it was called off about 5 times

Think calling for them to be expelled from the league is bit harsh though...... You wouldnt like it if clubs reccomended you be slung out of CCL everytime you tap somebody up?

Chertseytown think me and you should form an alliance, why should dirty linen not be aired in public, many on here defend the status quo,but speak differently in private. You are a breath of fresh air in your honesty since you have been posting, about your budget, players signed etc. But me as a mere supporter totally agree with your comments, although the C.C.L.will not.Unfortunately Honesty gets you knowhere in life, but you can hold your head up high, and fear no one.I have a few issues that I will be airing on here about what goes on in this C.C.L. League. And the limp wristed Committee that run it.Some Rules they follow ,others they turn a blind eye too, when it is convenient

Smudge and CT.....Hmmmm interesting thought.............I feel sometimes though it is better to keep your cards a bit closer to your chest....Never show the dealer your hand as then he knows what he has to beat.

Sorry if this has been covered before but who are the "owners" of Chessington and Hooks ground if they cannot decide for themselves when to put on a match?
