it doesn't add up to me.

I can't believe how there are big discrepancies in the number of home games played by some ESL teams and don't tell me it's because of better pitches because it doesn't look like that to me.Clubs such as Eton Manor(5 out of 13))Barkingside(3 out of 11)Bethnal Green Utd(6 out of 16) played only few home matches and Southend Manor(10 out of 15),Apsa (9 out of 15),Barking (10 out of 16) played more home matches???I believe we have got to rely on technology these days and have a computerized system that draws the fixtures out.I noticed over the years that we play some teams more or less at the same period of the year.coffee%20(2).gif

Coachie you've got some time on your hands havent you?? i cant recall at the start of the season looking at fixtures and seeing clubs with along run of home or away matches,i would say that Southend Manor tend to play when others dont,i can recall a few matches going ahead at Southchurch Park in terrible conditions,Eton Manor have suffered with floodlight problems but yeah maybe the fixture secretary could use a computer programme but one which would have to take into account one hundred and one different factors like groundshares, cricket clubs,FA Competitions et cetera.Interesting to see that we are playing Enfield 1893 three times in a fortnight soon, they wont fancy that.

Disagree a little coachie, you cant predict the weather, cup involements etc

What does Seems very ironic to me that people are quick to trash and moan about Manor' s home of Soutchurch Arena when in the past five seasons, they have had very few matches called off - at times when pretty much an entire programme is washed/frozen out!!!

Also, there pitch is one of the better playing surfaces in the ESL come September/October/November each season, especially under the lights. Think it helps with not having a reserve side play on there. I mean look at B'side (redbridge), Barking (Eton Manor) who share...they pitches wear so much quicker in poor conditions

Just because it doesn't have a fancy stand or is enclosed to the extreme, people act snobbish and moan about its standard...sometimes people forget that the game i splayed on the pitch and not in a stadium.

Gotta agree with Silencer, a can't remember many games I was invovled in against Manor being called off.

Just to back that up - we've had games this season moved to home fixtures due to the away pitch being unfit to play.....this was done to ease congestion later in the season.

We've played more games at home purely due to the fact that every time a game is called off it's an away game......Apsa away in the league cup as an example was called off 3 times!!!

Think we've only called off 2 home games this season which isnt bad and one of them was rearranged and played the following Saturday.

I miss it when football was football.....matches now are called off for no reason. All due respect, but ESL managers moan about the possibility of three games a week, so what...it breaks your working week up!

I loved it when players played hard, you could stand and watch from a terrace, you could booze and swear without offending a women or child and most importantly - matches were nearly always played, despite what state a mudbath pitch looked like. Stick your health and safety, I miss the football I fell in love with :-(

could not agree more silencer, its a joke, games getting called of because they dont want to ruin the pitch but playing 3 games week on it gets ruined, the only time a game should be of if its rock hard but apart from that whats wrong in playing with a little bit of water or cause 2 parts of the pitch u cant do a step over on to cause u might slip.

I agree with you Silencer apart from the swearing bit. As a dad, when I take my boy footie I tell him that some people may say some bad words and not to repeat them. However I once had to have a word with some tw*t because his swearing was ridiculous and every other word.

Dont want to appear controversial just voicing an opinion. I think parents of children and also women going to watch football have some responsibility to appreciate that in some circumstances, if the parents and women are easily offended, they would be better not going. For example, I am happy to sit and watch a premiership game from my seat and study and appreciate the tactics of the game (when I go, not very often these days, rather watch ESL game) at 16 home games a year BUT when two particular clubs visit, I turn into the foulest mouthed, emotional, passionate, biased person who walked this earth! Times are changing, It is about give and take and while I appreciate the children are our future (theres a song there......) I would hate for it to be a sterile experience. Not saying children should be exposed to swearing but maybe, we have to be a little more careful not to put them in harms way.

Sorry just realised a bit of topic....apologies.

I agree but the instances that get me are when the swearing is over the top or just every other word. I'm not shy when it comes to swearing, Hookey will testify to that but if I go footie and there are kids near by then I don't swear. sometimes it's hard but I just respect the situation.
