FIVE Consecutive Away Matches !!

It must be setting some sort of record to have FIVE consecutive away league matches on the bounce.

Waltham Abbey, Redbridge, Needham Market, Great Wakering Rovers, and Brentwood Town are all lined up to test our credentials over the next three weeks, with some very interesting matches in prospect.

After Saturdays excellent confidence-boosting win against Ware, can we get ourselves back on track as play-off contenders, by picking up enough points from these tough matches to close the gap and keep us in touch?

So, 15 points up for grabs. What's your forecast and how many points do YOU realistically think we will finish up with from our travels ??

Good luck everyone. 'COME ON THE TOWN'

Our away form is much better than our home form (which for some reason always seems to be the case most seasons) so hopefully that should play in our favour. That said we have Waltham Abbey & Brentwood who have only lost twice at home and Needham who have a 100% home record so this could test our away form.

We have started to get results that the performances have warrented recently and it would be nice to end Needhams 100% home record.

I believe we have it in us to get all 15 points and hopefully mount a serious playoff push but more realistically my predictions are:

WA - Win

Redbridge - Win

Needham - Draw

GWR - Win

Brentwood - Draw

COME ON TOWN

That's a pretty upbeat prediction Stone Cold. Must say eleven points out of 15 would be most welcome.

Let's see what others think !

Looking at our records against these opponents does not give me much hope for 11 points or so.

WA our record away is Played 7 Won 5

Red P5 Won 1

Needhan no record

GWR P5 Won2

Brent P7 Won 2

I reckon we need an average of 1.75 points per game to make it to the playoffs from now. Thats 8 points from these 5 games and I think thats probably about right from these fixtures. Obviously anything more is a bonus and nothing would give me so much pleasure than 5 wins from 5.

Prove me wrong COME ON THE TOWN

It might be cheating a little as, theoretically, the WA fixture was a no points however for the next 4 away matches.

We are now in a very strong challenging spot for a play off position and we have to continue, as we did agains Ware, playing as a top five team. On that basis the games left, though difficult should provide 9 points. I see us not getting anything at Needham Market and, if we do, then that is a bonus.

Brentwood will be the most difficult as they are also in the running for a play-off spot with games in hand.

Some interesting predictions!

Disappointing the WA match was called off last night. Think forecasting the results for our next 4 away matches is very difficult. To achieve a decent points tally, and keep us in the running for a play-off place, we need to play to our true potential and improve on past results against these opponents.

Fortunately, we now have a strong squad of fit players available for selection. Our away form has been pretty good, so there is every reason for cautious optimism.

There are no easy matches in this league. Apart from two strong pacesetters, there is very little to choose between the others in the top ten.

The next 4 fixtures will definitely examine our credentials and determine our chances of a top five finish.

Fingers crossed !

My forecasting was not spot on as I said,

"Brentwood will be the most difficult as they are also in the running for a play-off spot with games in hand."

I did not take account that the manager of Brentwood would change tactics at half time to a flat back four!

The way we played he should have tried a back 10.

You try telling their keeper that he had a flat back four in front of him.

There keeper had a bunch of Bankers (thats not how it's spelt) in front of him. The 2 was a disgrace and his embarassing play acting to get Jones sent off back fired with a booking for him and the after effects it had on his team. There 6 also booked for being childish was also another sign that concluded they could not cope with The Town. At the same time they could not bother Rob and our back four much either.

We were too strong and successfully well drilled. More of the same please, keeping this form with games coming thick and fast will see us pick up many points in a short space of time.
