C.C.L. and all other Step 5/6 Leagues to lobby the F.A. for parity re:-PROMOTION ie.The top side promoted automatically,Teams 2-5 to PLAY OFF for the 2ND promotion place. This practice is applied down to Step 4,so why should it not be tried lower down.It has great advantages for all concerned.Instead of the League being almost dead at Christmas for all but a few Teams,it could revitalise the League, without many Clubs just going through the motions year in year out. Also if a Team does not have the ground Grading to apply for Promotion, but wins the League, the League, should be able to promote the highest placed qualifying Club,ie Horsham Y.M.C.A 2 Seasons ago from 3rd place,in the Sussex County League.THIS LEAGUE WILL BECOME STALE,IF ACTION IS NOT TAKEN,IN THE NEAR FUTURE.C.C.L.TIME FOR ACTION,FORGET GUERNSEY,IF YOU WANT GROUNDBREAKING LOBBY FOR MORE PROMOTION PLACES.

Whilst I agree with Smudge it is not practical at the moment.

For starters we would probably only need 12 step 5 leagues, and these 12 divisions need to get a bit more serious - you only have to look at some of the website offerings to realise that several of them think of themselves as being a local club rather than part of the national structure.

Perhaps 3 could go down, with the top team going up, then the 2nd, 3rd & 4th placed teams play off against each other, with all teams being placed into a national table (but only playing teams from their league). The top 6 team would then get promoted. So not only will teams have to win their group, but their points, goal difference will need to be superior to others in the rest of the country.

GH - are you proposing 12 bigger Leagues to accommodate the teams being "lost" from the 2 Leagues or a one-off cull ?

The Step 4 Leagues would surely fight for quid pro quo - if 3 get relegated they would want 3 promoted to Step 2 - thus moving the issue further up the pyramid?

It is no secret that the FA would like to reduce the 14 step 5 leagues.

I would think that some expansion might be required - without looking, doubt all 14 are the same size at the moment.

Have read talk of Kent & Essex merging, but maybe just talk, so maybe some will switch leagues.

Looking at the current Pyramid the step 6/7 would need altering - perhaps 12 at step 6 and 24 at step 7?
