There is no money at Southend Manor we don't even cover expenses mate. Costs me a fortune getting to places like Stansted / Takeley away on the train from work.

 

What we have is a great bunch of lads who all love playing football and having some good old fashioned banter in the changing rooms......means we've attracted some good players who just want to enjoy their football on a Saturday!

Think that shows with the run of results we've put together recently.

i understand that, but players like nick beale could be at ryman gettin £60- £100 a game, so why would he play for nothing at a lower level?

I know what you mean mate.....Bealey knows a few of us at the club and the management. Got fed up with the travelling.....leaving early and getting back late!!

 

Whilst i agree the money was good at Ryman level the enjoyment wasnt......having chatted to him after the game Thursday he just wants to enjoy his football......doesnt matter what you're getting paid if you're not enjoying it as that's why we all put our boots on......

Yeah make you right mate.....problem is though that with loyalty so rare now a days and people moving sideways for a bit more money the players who do move for genuine reasons dont get the credit

Interesting comments on C.Gillam. It would be very surprising if he's ever played for free. especially if the rumours you hear in football circles about him have any truth to them...
