So lets get this straight! they are going to deduct us 10 points and relegate us as well! whats that all about? Have any other clubs who have entered cva had this punishment before? Plus if we finish in bottom 3 we go down 2 divisions!

From a purely objective point of view, we got ourselves into this mess by overspending and we are paying for it. A ten point penalty may be seen as not punishment enough (from a Totton point of view most definitely) we won promotion and if we could have taken the ten point deduction, survived at Premier level (whcih we probably would) and then push on and be successful and financially sound is that really fair on the teams we beat to promotion who stayed within budgets and paid their creditors and fair to our creditors who will get 25% of what they are owed. I would say no.

But the problem is they are going to put a hefty punishment in place, this may stop a few clubs but ultimately they need to stop this at the source. Clubs need to be financially transparent and have strict operating guidelines. Maximum wage structures related to the size of the club, financial security for creditors and players should be assured at teh start of the season and anyone failing to meet creditors payments should maybe automatically have their playing budget cut.

This would no doubt cause intital pain to a lot of clubs but ultimately be better for the game at this level after a season or two.

I am sure I will be shot down for my views but i can understand why a lot of clubs may not have sympathy for our situation, i am sure no one wants us to fold but did we win the league fairly, on the pitch we were the best team, but look at what we have acheived on the pitch this year on a much, much reduced budget. we didn't need the big money but we pushed on anyway, placed the noose around our neck as we lifted the title and then kicked the chair away. Very sad...........

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but I reckon most Windsor supporters would agree with your sentiments Fuzzy.

It’s a sad situation but ultimately when you have a passionate sport like football and then throw people with big egos into the mix, it’s easy for even the most sensible of people to lose track of reality and gamble everything on short term glory.

I don't have a problem with the FA and the league's dishing out heavy punishments for clubs who for want of a better word have "cheated". I just hope any punishments are across the board and will be handed out to all clubs regardless of who they are. Would a Premiership club in our situation be handed such a heavy penalty....I very much doubt it.

I would love to see football become more transparent (after all it is the people’s game). Make every club keep their books in the public domain, let everyone know all the incomings and outgoings. Then everyone can see what is going on and how money is being generated and spent.

It's my understanding that the budget for this current season, is the same as last season :)

While some fans might think that the club are being treated unfairly, one has to look at the situation from the creditors point of view.

Approximately 180,000 pounds of goods, services and work has not been paid for and some of those creditors will be hard pushed to survive without payment!

Most peoples think it great to stiff the Revenue, but when you think about it the club agreed to pay a player say 200 pound a week from which they have deducted the tax liability beffore making a payment. That is the 60,000 pounds that the Revenue is after and because they have more resources than most they can afford to issue winding up orders etc.

Any money used to pay legal costs involved in fighting the order would have been better spent paying off some of that debt.

Somebody at Windsor and Eton was well aware that there was a ticking bomb waiting to explode. Just ask yourself how much in arrears were the payments, because somebody from the Revenue was pounding down the door on a regular basis.

I can't recall seeing or hearing anyone suggest we are being treated unfairly.

But HMRC would not have been banging down the door regularly, that is a certainty.

No way could you get away with 5 years of fobbing them off. Their systems seem largely to ignore businesses that have a record of regularly paying small amounts late but focus on larger entities who have a generally excellent payment pattern when they are a few days late. Easy targets for pretty assured collections.

While I agree with most of the comments made, I don't quite see the point of both demotion and a deduction. I would have thought demotion would be sufficient to compensate for any unfair advantage gained from deliberate(?) overspending.

If a punishment on top of justice is required, there must be more imaginative ways than a 10 point deduction. This could be a topic on its own, but how about making Scotty the stag play in goal all season? Or every game we play is refereed by one of the creditors?

Is that a punishment for us or a plan to improve the standard of refereeing ?
