Difficult Choice ???

We all look forward to local derby matches and none more so than when 'The Town' play our good friends and rivals Cheshunt.

As yet, the re-arranged date for our postponed home league fixture is not listed on the club official website. However, the Ryman League website shows this match scheduled for Tuesday 15th February.

Normally, one would expect this fixture to attract an above average attendance whenever it is played. Unfortunately, many loyal fans of both clubs also support Spurs or Arsenal and, on that same night , Sky will be screening the first leg of Spurs Champions League match away to AC Milan.

Not sure how this will impact on our attendance. However, with money tight, wouldn't it be a good idea for someone to try and avoid a clash of interests, perhaps by getting both clubs to agree a switch to Monday or Wednesday evening ??

Just a thought !!

If you start moving games for things like this where will it end as there are Arsenal supporters who Will be wanting to watch the Arsenal game on sky the following night and also even a large number of Manchester Unuted supporters who will want to watch their club. In a few weeks time it will be Arsenal on the Tuesday and we could have a game then.

Town games need to be on a set day and not moved around the week. And supporters will just have to make a choice.

Absolutely agree with you MbrunoB. I appreciate it is extremely difficult to rearrange fixtures particularly when there is a backlog due to bad weather. My post was only half serious to get a discussion going.

Andy, forget Coronation Street on that Monday. Think about Valentines Day and spoil your good lady !!

Evening games used to kick off at 7:30 which meant that the youngsters could be in bed before 10.

All Saturday games should kick off at 3:00 pm and no games on Sundays/Fridays.

And whilst we are at it all FA cup games should be replayed until there is a result! With replays following at most 4 days after the previous draw with Saturdays excluded.

There is too much cheating and players should not be booked/sent off for clumsy challenges.

Players should either wear long shorts or tiny shorts.

Leather footballs should be the norm.

All clubs should forced to number their players 1-11 with a typical WM formation.

Goalies number 1

Left back 2

Right back 3

Left half 4

Centre half 5

Right half 6

Left wing 7 ( a tricky player with magic boots)

Inside left 8

Centre forward 9

Inside right 10

Outside left 11

No substitutes allowed so squads would be smaller and there would be better players at non league level.

Boys would be allowed to climb over the fence or called chicken by their mates.

Supporters club would be issued with a booklet showing fixtures and a proverb in the booklet with such terms as "A member enrolled adds one to the fold".

Supporters should be allowed to wear bars on their badges like medal ribbons.

And bring back rattles!!!!

Flat caps obligatory to anyone over 30.

Steph - are you sure about this? You have selected two left wingers and have your lefts and rights ar5e about face.

I would also add to your list; hip flasks and pipes compulsory entry requirement for all over-40s.

Not sure which way this discussion is going, but nice to be reminded of some of the good things from the distant past.

Think many people would prefer team numbering 1-11 instead of players displaying their squad number. Another example of change, but not necessarily for the better!

Clearly, Steph was never consulted on this issue!

What about the alphabet board with the letters against the fixtures in the programme?

And what about the collie dog who used to jump around when we scored.

Sadly Bruce (dog) and Ray (owner) are no longer with us. I wonder if Pete and Lucky would step into the breach?

And Semi-finals of major FA cup competitions at league grounds.

And the London Challenge Cup which made winning and entering the London Senior Cup worthwhile.

To fit in all the fixtures reduction of the Isthmian league to 20 clubs.

Abolition of Relegation and Promotion so that we play Corinthian Casuals, Dulwich Hamlet and Tooting and Mitcham on a regular basis.

Nurse is it time for my breakfast?
