League Cup format still over 2 legs is laughable,4/5 weeks lost due to the bad weather and the essex senior committee decide not to change the format, should have been a straight 1 game knockout on the night, midweek slots are needed for league games it seems to me that they want clubs to play 3 games a week surely the priority is to play league games midweek not league cup games played over 2 legs.

Compaq, I do not think it appropriate for an Essex Senior League manager to make such attacks on the league committee. Just my opinion, perhaps I am old fashioned. Surely a club of your standing has plenty of players that need to be kept happy and will be glad of the games. How can you expect a league committee to move the "goalposts" (as it were) in the middle of a season? I like this 2 legged format and it gives teams like Mauritius Sports UK the chance of progressing to a cup semi final.

You may have bigger fish to fry but the rules do not revolve around Stansted and what is best for your club despite what you may think.

Congratulations, compaq, on becoming the new Stansted manager. This must be true as Mark 'The Oracle' Hoffman has said you are.

It's almost laughable, though, that 'big 4' comment. Somebody has been watching Sky Sports far too much! I would imagine Witham Town aren't exactly best pleased with the draw if Southend Manor get through their qualifying group.

Less of the sarcasm Insular. What am I missing here? Compaq talks as if he is the "main man" at Stansted. Have I misinterpreted this? I was also told about how he saved the club by bringing in vital members of the playing staff.

I agree with the big 4 comment by the way. Southend Manor in my experience have been nothing short of a pub side. There is a drinking culture in the club like no other I have seen at this level of football. I suppose anyone can get a game in this poxy league if they are mates with the manager.

Will stick to the Ryman league from now on. Pretty shoddy down at these depths.

I've got to add my congratulations as well on taking Terry's job Darran! When did that happen again...?

As for ''The Big 4'' comment, it's a turn of phrase for christ's sake! Has the forum really got that bad nowadays that instead of real banter like back in the days of Onebreast, Burnhamnumber1 and Kaiser Jr. that you all see fit to correct each other on grammatical errors and quotes that might not be along the exact train of thought that you have...? Grow up guys, pull your heads out of your arses and lighten up! Football is all about opinions, and it's a sad day when someone can't express them...

This from the very same man that claimed he'd heard that 3 Southend Manor players were on their way to Southend United. Not a bad little pub then. And as for 'drinking culture', the strongest drink one player has is Irn Bru and the majority drink Lucozade Sport pre AND post game. I'd also say, too, that anybody who knows the Southend Manor management duo would have less chance of making the side than those who don't - they already know our faults but don't know about outsiders!

Quite simply, Mark, you are a liar, a fantasist, and as such you are warmly welcomed on this forum. And also in the Manor changing room.

Surprised to see GB bite quite so easily mind.

Thank you for the clarification Compaq. Would have been easier if you would make this clear to people when you meet them as well. Have you had your wrists slapped by Mr Spillane regarding your outburst?

Goldenboots, I have never come across you but you talk some sense. People seem more fascinated with joining this forum simply to take a shot at my good self. I would have thought people have better things to do. This is primarily directed at The Detective, Insular and Overrated and a couple of others.

The truth is out there guys and I will bring it to you.

Insular I am not at liberty to name names but there is a contract offer on the table to a Southend Manor player as we speak. I am sure the news will be broken soon. Talent like this has propelled Southend Manor into a very respectable league position and credit to the management team for manufacturing this. However it will not last and the talent will be poached leaving the same old faces to drink the club into mid table mediocrity. Thanks and good luck.

Philip, thanks for your post. However you may be slightly off the mark there because I believe former Tiptree and Halstead manager Jody Brown is now in charge at Redbridge. I may be wrong. What is your source?

Wow, that must have been a very quick development, Mark. A caller rang in to Paul Sturrock on BBC Essex yesterday evening and asked him if they were signing anyone from Southend Manor. His reply of that he hadn't been to the club, or sent anyone down to check on any players, and would not be signing any Southend Manor players, was quite convincing.

Hmmm, who d you believe? A current Football League manager with a wealth of experience, who during his playing days appeared in a World Cup, and was in a club side that knocked Barcelona out of European competition? Or ...?

Hmmm, a tough one that. No doubt we will find out tonight when there's 3 empty spaces in the car going to London Apsa tonight with a note saying "Sorry, boys, the lure of playing Bury tomorrow was too strong."

Insular, are you saying that this question was actually posed to Paul Sturrock live on air? Based on the claims of an unknown on a forum hiding behind a "username". That is a classic.

Thank you for making my year so far.
