Surrey County Premier Cup QF Result

Cobham 4 - 3 Corinthian Casuals Res

Sets up a home SF v South Park on Sat 19th Feb according to the Surrey FA website

Hopefully we can go one better than last season and make the final, although it will be a tough ask against a South Park side that have already beaten us twice this season in the league and league cup!

Went to watch chertsey vs cove and to be honest 4-0 was not a true reflection. Overall a 1-0 would proberly be a true reading, both teams played some nice passing moves, cove only created 1 chance which was a header in the 1st half, chertsey created a couple with the keeper making a good save from a 1 on 1 and an excellent save at the end tipping it on to the bar, 2nd and 3rd goal were lucky, how often would that happen the ball bouncing off the chertsey players, as for the penalty it was the right decision but feel sorry for cove as they put in a good battle and didnt deserve 4-0

What's your angle NICE GUY. Sounds like this was a lucky win that Chertsey hardly merited, You did say you were going to see the game.

Chertsey 4-0 Cove

3 spunky lucky goals ended the tie for Cove.

1st goal was cleared from a corner to the edge of the box. A tame shot went thru everyones legs and decieved the stranded keeper.

2nd goal was a clearance that ricocheted off of a chertsey player and fell kindly to a chertsey player inside the area who easily tucked it away.

2-0 at half time.

Came out buzzing 2nd half only for 2 mins in, another clearance that ricocheted off a chertsey shin and looped over the keeper which should have been cleared off the line but was missed by the centre half 3-0

Most ricochets end in a goal kick or a throw in. They dont usually end up in the net or at the feet of the opposition in the box. Just bad luck tonight!

The only goal really deserved was the penalty with 10 mins to go. Our keeper made 1 save all game.

Congratulations to the 17 year old lad who scored his hat trick tonight. Cove were let down last minute by 2 players who would have started through travel problems and work commitments.

Ref even made a point to say to me that he thought it was more of a 1-0 game not a 4-0 game in his opinion.

Best of luck to Chertsey for the rest of the season.

HI CONFUSED, YEAH WAS THERE LAST NIGHT AND WELL DONE CHERTSEY FOR THEIR WIN............NO MORE JONAH SMUDGY !

THE FEW REPORTS ALREADY MENTIONED ON THIS THREAD ARE HONEST AND CORRECT WITH SOME FRuTUITIOUS GOALS BUT DID THINK THAT CHERTSEY JUST DESERVED THEIR WIN. THEY LOOKED A BETTER UNIT TONIGHT AND GOT THEIR LUCK WHICH WE COULD ARGUE THEY HAve BEEN MISSING IN RECENT GAMES, BUT YOU KNOW THE SAYING, YOU MAKE YOUR OWN LUCK ! DEFINITELY A PENALTY AND WELL DONE TO THE YOUNG LAD (CROSSLEY I UNDERSTAND), HE ACTUALLY DID OKAY AGAINST EPSOM AS WELL.

COVE LOOKED A BIT RUSTY UNDERSTANDABLY, THEY WORKED HARD HUFFED AND PUFFED WITHOUT REALLY CREATING MANY CHANCES OR PROBLEMS FOR THE CHERTSEY KEEPER, ALTHO' 4-0 DID NOT RESEMBLE THE GAME AND WAS RATHER FLATTERING TO SAY THE LEAST..........BUT THAT'S FOOTBALL FOLKS !

THIS RESULT COULD NOW U-TURN CHERTSEY'S RECENT FORM AND PUSH GUILDFORD

Keep an eye on Old Farnboronians,

They are leavers from farnborough sixth form college and its a team that offers young players from the college senior football. A lot of good players are playing for us (College team) at the moment who will go on to play for Old Farnboronians. They are managed and joined by the P.E teachers from the college too. Looking to go CCL sooner rather than later.

Cobham raced into a 3-0 lead after no more than 15mins. Striker Jake Baxter was looking rampant then all of a sudden CC got back into the game thanks to a dodgy pen and brought it back to 2-3. Cobham looked to have sealed it with a pen of there own before CC scored again to set up a nervy finish.

FT: Cobham 4-3 CC

They can't join the CCL at a ground of their own. It's on college grounds and while the surface is outstanding and looked after everyday the college aren't going to fund a clubhouse on college grounds for the team. There are no lights, clubhouse (including bar) and I believe the pitch is a little to small too. I've heard looking to share with a current CCL team in the area.

If Cove get past Fleet spurs in the next round of the aldershot senior cup we will play Old Farnboronians in the quarters!

They are not all Sixth Form leavers. A few of them have played CCL prem football. Paul Fitzpatrick (ex Ash keeper) is one.
