This was quite a disappointing result. We could, and probably should have got much more out of the game.

We started the brighter and played some good football. The opening goal scored after a set piece, Wild laying the ball off to Hyde who scored with the aid of a deflection. We should have had a second less than 10 minutes later when Wild turned in the box, but somehow missed the target.

After this, we seemed to go off the boil and let T&M back into the game. Their first goal came from a bit of a scramble, after which we rarely threatened and their second goal was a good finish from inside the box, although he was given far too much time and space.

The second half was much more even, and very end to end. Neil Cousins (hamstring I believe) was replaced by Lawson, with Ceb dropping back into defence initially, before Ryan O'Rawe was deployed there and Ceb returned to upfront duties. Some good football led to the equaliser, and from the way we were playing at the time you felt a winner was a possibility.

Bertie was then replaced by Benson, with Lawson upfront alongside Ceb.

Sadly, we squandered far too many chances in front of goal, and our set pieces in the second half, once Bertie had gone off, especially the free kicks around the area were woeful. After the first 3 were handed straight to the goalkeeper, or to the fans behind the goal (easily) the last few (in the closing minutes) should probably have been taken in a different way or by someone else.

We have to take some positives from this game, but we must stop conceding slopping goals and we must think a little more when it comes to set pieces. This one was there for the taking.

Good report Gareth, summed it up nicely.

Our players have to work harder when we they don't the ball, imo, we went infront and Tooting looked like they would never score, but then we took our foot off the gas and allowed tooting back in.

One thing is for sure, Saturdays game is going to be a HUMDINGER Aveley will fancy their chances, and we will be all out for a win. Lots of goals I think.

Good support last night, well done lad's :applaus:

What seems to be the problem at the moment then guys?

You've certainly got the individuals within the squad to suggest you should be doing better than your current form and position suggests?

Problem is the other teams arn't letting us win, which is most unfair I think.

I've no doubt the lads will turn it around, we are playing good football at times, not quite as much as we were a few months ago, but when we start to move, and get that groove, there'll be no stopping us

I would agree with the report that Gareth submitted...

It's not the football that we're playing that is "killing" us, it's the indivdual mistakes. I'm sure that under normal circumstances, most teams that are presented with the opportunities would screw them up...just our luck that the teams we're meeting aren't....

The lads heads we're down last night, so it's up to us to get 'em going. We're not a bad side but we're in a trough and only as a club collective that we'll get out of this.

We have to stop conceding terrible goals if we want to arrest this run of poor form

Goal 1 - Their midfielder miscontrols the ball so badly it bounces about 15 yards off his leg, but he still has time to go and get it and lay on the pass that leads to the first goal.

Goal 2 - Morgan inexplicably drops the ball.

Goal 3 - Their player has the freedom of Tooting to take the ball down, have a think about it and stick it home.

I suppose it's good that the supporters are trying to stay positive, but there's no way in a gazillion years that we should have got nothing from that game in my view. Our team is capable of better than they are collectively producing at the moment and we need them to improve starting now.

We could have easily won 3-2 instead of losing 3-2 last night,

If we had someone who could put the ball in the net Ced missed 3 great chances last night (not blaming him as playing out of position) a shot and 2 headers 2 of which were off target and all from about 8 yards out.

Was scrappy game tons of mistakes from both teams only difference was they made the most of theirs.

Was a decent game to watch even i stayed to the end
