I didn't say that everyone should observe a minutes silence on September 11th. What I said was that it should not be used as a reason to slate the USA. People should show respect in the way in which they feel is correct.

I don't think it was aimed at you, Mr Happy. I think it was more to do with what I said a few days back - if you have silences for everything, it's effect is reduced.

 

There have been many silences that I have refused to observe for various reasons. There are others that I will always observe. However, I don't expect others to necessarily agree with my choices.

 

And although the USA is not blameless for the current state of the world, the anniversary of the biggest loss of life on US soil is not the time to remind people of this.
