Council Cabinet Meeting

Ian

Recommended Posts

Last night's meeting didn't finish until late so I didn't get time but I'll try and write an update this evening of some of the discussions and the outcome which was that they have agreed to proceed with a feasibility study into the Britwell proposals.

Tune in later for further details of what was a lively and, at times, highly amusing meeting!

As predicted there was some vocal objection voiced towards the councilers from the represented Britwell comunity, obviously i cant speak for the rest of the Britwell comunity but they obviously want to live in an area that is fast becoming, quoting a Britwell Counciler "A third world area" The fact is the regeneration of Britewll will not take place if the football stadium is not built on Kennedy park,a fact the Britwell comunity and councilers could not seem to understand.

I couldn't attend last nights meeting, but from what is posted above about the regeneration and the stadium going hand in hand, I would have thought that would be fairly predictable. That's obviously the selling point of the entire project. "We regenerate this bit of land, but you have to have a football stadium over there."

I guess the main residents objection is coming from those who live close to Kennedy Park for the main part?

Still, I see in the Express this morning that Paul Janik, a Britwell Councillor, questions Martyn Deaner's past and current financial record, something perhaps we should be looking at in more detail ourselves? That unfortunately, could be our achillies heel. I see there's been no word from the Thornes yet that the outstanding rent has been paid owing to them? Hardly encouraging...

According to Star FM yesterday , more that 70% of the residents of Britwell and Northborough , are in favour of the regeneration scheme , this info may well have been too late to be included in the Slough Express .

Dom, I was at the meeting as well, I would like to point out that the only plans at the moment that are on the table for a regeneration program, are Mr Deaners which of course include a new football club. But if other plans come one the table from another party with backers and are more beneficial to the community, those plans would more likely go ahead. The Stadium does not guarantee our plans will go ahead.
