DONT THE LIKES OF COVE, SANDHURST, CHESSINGTON & HOOK & EPSOM & EWELL WANT PROMOTION ? IF NOT, WHAT IS THE POINT OF PLAYING FOR THE CLUB WITHOUT AMBITION, IN OTHER WORDS SHOULD THESE CLUBS WIN THE LEAGUE, THE PLAYERS MUST BE GUTTED NOT GETTING PROMOTED? ...........SEEMS STRANGE OR IS IT FOR JUST A GAME OF FOOTBALL I ASK ?

 

I KNOW IT'S A JUMP UP AND THAT GROUND IMPROVEMENTS MAY BE NEEDED WHICH IS COSTLY, BUT TO ME, THE MESSAGE THESE CLUB GIVES THEIR PLAYERS THAT THEY ARE NOT TOO CONCERNED, INTERESTED OR BOTHERED ........I MIGHT HAVE THIS WRONG AND I'M OLD HAT BUT ........ ?

Should every team apply at the start of the season then NICE GUY ? Some teams have a longer term plan, not everyone is ready to move up, whether it be ground improvements or the finances are not there. As a player it doesn't matter if a team have applied to go up, you still try to do the best you can for yourself and the team at the level you are playing. I once played for a team that won the league and we knew we wouldn't be able to go up.

I think it's more sensible planning on those sides part. I believe you have to apply by end of December and the clubs you mentioned were probably out of the promotion race by then so why waste the 200 quid or whatever it costs to apply?

Think like Surrey Finest the Clubs that have not applied are realists.They are probably happy where they are in the Pyramid,and with money becoming tighter and tighter to find have made sensible decisions,would anyone throw money down the drain,when finances dictate that a promotion would be madness.I am suprised however that Badshot Lea have applied,not because they are not good enough for promotion,but with the Ryman Leagues stance on Groundsharing unclear,1 year only with Ryman Clubs of which Godalming are 1,could be money wasted.My hope is that the Team that finishes top has the Ground to get promotion,so as not to deny a Club with the correct facilities who may come runners- up the chance.Same applies in Div 1,because it makes the League stale,and therefore pointless.

would Badshot lea even miss £200 against what the weekly wage is and how much it costs to rent the ground?? My guess is NO!!
