Shame in all fairness, there were some good people involved in that venture but it was doomed to fail in my opinion, football is about history to a certain extent,I don't believe you can start a club from scratch with no fanbase nowadays and expect it to survive for a long period of time without constant success

Rushden and Diamonds, MK Dons and to an extent Dagenham and Redbridge don't seem to be doing to badly.

Mergers and ground shares are the only way clubs at our level will be able to survive IMO.

You might find that supporters of Rushden Utd, Irthlingborough Diamonds, Wimbledon, Milton Keynes City, Walthamstow Avenue, Ilford, Leytonstone, Redbridge Forest and Dagenham FC may not agree.

just think - Canvey, Concord and Benfleet could all merge - they would of course be called Benfleet Island Rangers, and would most likely play at Benfleet's ground.

Interesting to see that the Secretary and Chairman of Southill are both still blaming Uncle Urchin for the clubs downfall,Karl had no involvement in the club for the last 18 months, its a bit like the present coalition government blaming all their problems on the last labour administration.Interesting to note that a certain individual who has posted thousands of times on fans focus is all of a sudden not to be seen now his club went bust, parallels there with Uncle i believe.

Mergers are slightly different though alan as the two clubs merging usually have fan bases each,a club like southill had no fan base and basically encroached on another two clubs in Biggleswade, ridiculous planning really. They would of been better off trying to locate in a bigger town with no football clubs not a small town with two senior clubs, maybe a town like Wickford which could probably support a side with some prospect

There is a Runwell Hospital senior football club in the Wickford area who run a pretty decent side in the EOL Div 1. With the almost demise of the hospital itself if they changed their name to 'Runwell & Wickford United' that might work to give the club a broader appeal!

P.S. There is already a very strong Wickford Youth Football Team too.

Most people in Wickford probably go and watch Billericay if they want to see a game.
