Tonight (or should I say last night)

We really gutsed that one out. No Lacy tonight, Keister started. Grant started on right. First half was poor for both teams, we looked like two teams struggling for form. However, Stubbs (playing on the left side of midfield) made an absolutely crucial tackle when one of their guys seemed set to score. Turner later made a great save at the far post. Stubbs scored with a screamer right on half-time.

Second half, we had a couple of hairy moments right at the start as Wealdstone obviously had a bollocking at half-time. But playing on the counter attack suits us and we had chances to extend the lead and had a player (Rogers or Pinno) wrestled to the ground in the box when it looked like we were going to score. Last few minutes a fantastic block on the line (Stubbs?) when their guy looked certain to score. I thought we looked fitter than them in the closing minutes.

And were there really 348 in the ground tonight?

Couple of points for correction.

1) Stubbsy only scored as he saw his Dad turn round to buy some chips so yes Mr Stubbs Senior missed his son scoring.

2) Team was set up with Grant playing right wing back and Stubbs playing in his old position of Left Wing Back.

3) Both Rogers & Pinno were bought down within 2 seconds of each other for cast iron penalties (never knew Webb was the ref last night and he thought it was Old Trafford).

4) The fantastic block on the line was done by Shaun Welford.

5) You obviously failed to see the 100+ Margate fans there last night Neil.

Yes, they get the flack when they underperform so it's only right they get applauded for a good effort. Dosen't altogether make up for those poor efforts at home but it goes some way towards it. Now to get some consistency, at HOME in particular & to see people come back through those turnstiles. Well done for grinding out a result last nigh (in white too) ;) :)

Another point, i've always believed you see the true character of a team, when on a cold and wet night in Jan/Feb, your team is away from Home, and every minute is hard hard work. But if your team pull together knuckle dowm and come back with a point, you should hold them up shoulder high. So to win 3 points we should be worshipping the ground they walk.

For now indeed Mark, for now but I for one can't excuse earlier results. As I also said, praise for last night and for a good result but not for other matches at home where we didn't deliver. It's more vital to win THOSE in financial terms & for the future well being of this club & improvement on the field in years to come.

Hard to please? yes, probably? Get some winning consistency going both at Home in particular & Away & maybe they will get more praise from me than I am giving at the moment. I look forward to doing just that.

Well speaking to some of the players they to would like to reproduce the away form at home. However, it does not help when you are booed by your own supporters at home before the ref has blown the whistle for the game to commence.

Maybe if we supported the players at home instead of abbusing them then they may feel more relaxed and improve thier performances.

After all if the present comments come from certain sections of the crowd how long before we see a Dean Standen incident again.

Can't imagine why anyone would boo the players BEFORE kick of & I certainly haven't heard that though you obviously have by the sounds of it. Booing the players at ANY time is wrong but before kick-off ??,

In the past I have heard our own fans turn on the team within 5 minutes of kick off when the score was 0 - 0 so would not surprise me if booing before kick off. Probably the same people who kick off at supporters wearing rose tinted glasses when we try and encourage the team after a goal has been conceded or we have lost.

The supporters who have a Man Utd or Chelsea mentallity of "my team has the God given right to win the League, the Cup, the Champions League"

We win some we lose some always have always will. Just as long as the players try their best.

Not at either wealdstone or croydon game;but trying to 'read through' the various official and unofficial reports-would it be true to say that whilst v wealdstone it was a 'battling performance';the honest truth is that against croydon-mfc were the better side-but lost-and v wealdstone-that wealdstone had more of the play and were slightly better-but we won.

its a results business-but again-had Margate won the croydon game and lost last night-would that have been equally fair ?

Funnny old game- so often-the better side loses.

Unfortunatlely-we are not good enough to stamp our authority on a game-and thus many results-for and against rest on a bit of luck, refs decision, errors.

its the same for both sides-thus thats why you get alot of teams close to each other in the middle-with maybe one or two very good teams and one or two very bad teams.

the rest are much of a muchness-so many results depend on that bit of luck.

Thate why we are and will be mid table-not good enough to really domiate so that when we ge bad luck-we are so dominant-that it does not matter.

Nothing wrong with that-at least for this season-we will simply go on winning some, losing some and drawing some-and ofter losing the ones we deserve to win and vice versa-and its the same for most teams in any league

I would say Croydon were the better team overall & probably deserved their win Michael but you are correct in most of everything else you say.You win some, lose some, some you would expect to win & but lose, & vice versa.

Sometimes though its the manner in which we give these points to opponents that gets to me. We need that consistency in our play, to show grit, determination & true form on a much more regular basis & then regardless of the result win, lose or draw or lose I for one will have no complaints.

Would be nice also to get a run together at home to see those crowds return because we all know success will bring them back........eventually. Better sooner rather than later though in my book.

Mid table will do for me, a pre-season prediction I also made. That's the form we are in at the moment, mid table form but we could & should be doing much better than we are doing.

In these kind of games scoring the first goal is absolutely key. It gives you something to hang on to or build on.

Had Turner not made one of those first half saves on Monday we might have got a bit of a poking. Equally, had the 'ghost goal' been given on Saturday I'm pretty sure we would have gone on to win.
