Taken over at Ipswich,Ipswich have a home game Wednesday in the carling cup semi final against Arsenal but jewell won't get involved in the team until Thursday,surely this is showing the club he is clearly not upto the job,how would you feel if that was your club???

I am a Chelsea fan who went yesterday, all I can see is he has a huge job on his hands, seriously Ipswich were awful and Chelsea did not play well either. Fair play to the away fans, they did not stop singing

Middle,if he wanted to take over and be on the bench Wednesday there is nothing stopping him,my guess is he saw the players yesterday and knew he would start his reign with a defeat against arsenal

Managers take over at the drop of a hat at all sorts of clubs,I doubt very much it's anything legal,just think he wants a crack at a winning start on saturday

As an Ipswich fan I feel somewhat qualified to discuss this case. Town are in a mess big time. Jewel is NOT the answer. Not too good to go down. Just another of the manager merry go rounds. Best to support the Urchins.

Sorry but I don't understand how a manager can be appointed one weekend but won't work with the team or manage the team till the Thursday,seems that Thursday is a bit convenient to me

Good point. Not a positive start . Why not wait until the end of the second leg! Better still the end of the season whilst we are thinking about it. Obviously lacking a little self belief being out of the game got two years after being sacked. Good incentive for caretaker manager too.

Perfectly calm old bean,just think it's a tad strange,they were talking about it on the radio this morning and there's no legal issues just jewell thinks it best to start tomorrow,instead of Monday when their confidence was probably at an all time low

But Rob, they are hardly likely to discuss anything in public are they. Want about bonues in contracts for instance?? Maybe Keane's contract had some sort of bonus for cup performance/round reached?? Maybe Jewell's contract with SKY said he could not be released until Thursday?? These are all potential issues.

If jewell wanted to take over monday morning he could of,thats the way football works,he was named manager at the weekend so therefore could take charge if he wanted,but the simple facts are he saw how shocking they were against chelsea and his bottle went,funny thing is that they don't have that bad a team,with some tinkering they are a top 10 championship side not a side that gets turned over week in week out.I actually think Arsenal may struggle tonight and what better chance of proving yourself as a manager and getting a great start,probably why jewell has been out the game for so long,for me he is another manager who just potters around in the nether nether leagues,getting sacked and being paid handsomly for it

Told you Arsenal would struggle.The fact is that Jewell has missed a perfect opportunity to get his managerial career off to a good start enduring himself to the home fans,instead the team won without him and many town fans must think he bottled it.

Arsenal were always going to play a couple of idiots in bendtner,denilson & arshavin and when they all start together there is no fluency.Arsenal would of been better of putting the kids out as they can play together

He probably had something better to do, like going to the pictures to see The Kings Speech, we saw it on Sunday, thoroughly recommend it. Orange Wednesday perhaps?
