Halfway through the season

We have played 21 games, so are halfway through the league season. We have got 33 points so far, and looking at previous seasons , are likely to need another 44 points to be reasonably confident of making the play offs (though we could still make it with less, but the chances would be poor)

44 points from 21 matches would mean 13 wins and 5 draws, or 14 wins and 2 draws. The former would mean we can only afford to lose 3 more league games this season. With our next 3 league matches being against Marlow, Arlesey and Daventry, all of whom have a higher points/per game ratio than us, we may soon have a clearer picture. Anything other than 2 wins would make reaching the play offs unlikely.

I'm not convinced from what i've seen from the league this season that it will take as many points as last season to nail a play-off place. I personally think as i've said before that the standard in this league is not as good as last season with your Chesham's, Bury's, Burnham's and anyone is capable of beating anyone with the exception of Hitchin.

However, that said I do think that Arlesey, Rugby and Daventry will be in the play-off's with the remaining place anyones.

If you look at the final tables for the last 4 or 5 seasons it's been a case where losing anything more than 11 games in the season will not get you a play-off place. However, I think this season will be different. As mentioned everyone is capable of beating anyone and whilst Slough have lost more than the current holders of positions 1st to 5th they are still 4th.

If the team can put together another streak of 4 or 5 games without losing, a play off place is entirely possible.

The next few games are crucial, playing quite a few of the top half teams between now and the end of February, including Arlesey twice. If we can put in performances like we did yesterday hopefully we will come away with a decent number of points. Now would definately be a good time to put together a run of wins!

We can do it, we have shown at times that we can do well against anyone. We just have to keep the faith and support the team the whole way.

in my mind we will make it. for some reason i have little doubt in my mind of that. whether that is right or wrong we shall see obviously but i have major belief in these players. as said other than Hitchin and maybe 2 others there is no team i have seen that will fly away from the rest like Chesham, Bury and Burnham did with Hitchin last season.

put it this way i would be incredibly disappointed if with the team we have we did not even make the playoffs though there will be more this season going for those 4 places than the 4 plus Sutton Coldfield last year
