Ryman League - Hornchurch 2 Bishops Stortford 0

Urchins

Recommended Posts

Two goals in the first 15 minutes was enough to seal this win as we bounced back well from Saturday's defeat.

We took the lead in the 12th minute. Andy Douglas ran on to a forward ball and shot from just outside the area. Ex-Urchin keeper Micky Desborough (hands up all those that knew that) blocked the shot but it came back to Douglas who rolled the ball back across the area for John Martin to score his first goal for the club. Our second goal came from the spot two minutes later after Vinnie John was brought down in the area - Steve West powering the ball home despite Desborough getting good contact with it.

Stortford had a great deal of possession in the second half but were ineffective in the final third. They never really threatened our goal and to be frank didn't look as if they would. A rare second half chance came our way with minutes to go as Steve West thundered a free kick goalwards from 30 yards, bringing out a great save from Desborough.

Line-up:- Gay, Gooding, Kerrigan, Adedeji, West, J Martin, Keeling (Southon 65), Sterling, John, Douglas (A Martin 87), McGowan. Subs not used:- Findlay, Cowley, Collier (GK)
