Sorry but cannot leave this any longer. The above negs about DS are not just getting up my nose but his as well. Make someone feel welcome in this way and see how long they want to stay around. By the way you so called ' pundits' and self professed experts, offers abound at this time of the season. Isnt it strange how the slagging off is profuse amoungst people who have three eye holes in their balaclavas due to too much interbreeding in certain parts of the country. I would like to congratulate so many for making him feel so welcome and wanted in your 'team' !!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh and by the way, when this post gets reported it wont make a jott of difference to me!!!!!!!!!!! Some of you are a disgrace and should be dressed down by the people who matter more and run this club. Devoid of any substance in your knowledge of football and deluded in believing that because you by a ticket to watch that you have purchased the divine rite to assasinate a player who gives more value than you could afford to pay for every time he plays. Move on to another subjec/post and leave the well damage alone now please.

Well said. The lad always gives his all, has incredible energy and I have never seen him shirk from a battle and getting the winner last night!. Always a minority who have some gripe but the vast majority of fans see him as an essential component of the team.

Mr Ronks, what are you on about? Nearly everybody on the thread has praised Dan Stubbs. In fact you'd be hard put to find a negative word about him on the whole forum, other than suggesting he has been played out of position.

Calm down mate. Have a cup of tea.

This is a forum about opinions and we all have them its a shame some people take them to heart, perhaps then we should just delete the forum and utter our opinions to each other at the games, then no one will be offended.

There's always one,so far at least, who will try and justify blatant nonsensical diatribe and call it' opinions' and or forum banter. Damage has and is being done and you are now starting to ride your bike backwards, or justify it by saying that any offence should be taken on the chin, is all I have come to expect from the same people on here. The fans are as the word implies supportive, and critical of course, when appropriate. But if you all issues with any player, tell them to their face and not behind their backs in an arena designed for annonymity. i cant be bothered with you any more. What will happen will happen and some on here are a waste of space..

it must be soul destroying as a player (or relatives) to read through others opinions, but its has to be taken as water off of a ducks back

Stubbs is one of the gates most liked players,

I can see why some players never even look on here !!!

Pagey mate, MOST players look on here not some. As for H2O off the feathered object, it comes at the wrong time for several reasons. Suffice to say he has had too much over the last 2 seasons from the same sources. I just want to let them know what sort of people they appear to be. He plays for the club, he, like many others, is proud to wear the shirt and as last night stay on pitch even though injured to help get the win.Dont misunderstand me please, for the most part all that is said is taken with large pinches of salt and we both laugh at a lot of it. But, who else in the squad gets as much stick on here. I suggest no one, and any anoraks are welcome to check it out.

Yet another Stubbs fan here! not posted for some time, to deppressing. Had to respond to this, having read the whole thread again i can only seem to find praise for the guy. Why on earth are we having this pointless conversation. What has happend to the club i once enjoyed going to watch!!! :wall:

Actually Ronks, you should check it out. Stubbsy must be the least criticised player on here, and has been man of the match several times. If you can find a thread slagging him off, quote it so we can see what you are on about.

Players were always subject to judgement in the press and media long before the internet came about. It's not new. If you want to make it in sport, or any public profession like acting/writing/politics/tv, you have to get used to it.

If you can't bear criticism, don't put yourself in the public eye.

I'm a little confused too, the suggestion that taking off Stubbs against croydon was a bad idea ( I definately thought so at the time ) and many people agreeing is a postive in my book.

Stubbs reminds me of Lee Spiller but with more bite and much more pace, good player in my book and an asset to the team.

Just had a quick flick back over this thread and the suggestion among the doubters - not many it has to be said - of DS is that he should be deployed on the left.

I'd agree with that and it clearly worked alright at Wealdstone. Dan's energy seems to be better used when channelled to a flank and most of the time he seems to run the opposition full back ragged. Makes watching the Gate much more entertaining. Long may he continue to play there. Only question that bugs me is should Dan play left wing back or right wing back?

Have to say that as a 'test piece' this has entertained me. How sad am I on a boring Tuesday night. My point, hopefully made to those it may apply to, is that when critised it is nice , and rightly so, to reply and have your own opinion heard or read. Players do not have that luxury, or may not even care, and my reasons were that simple. This club, this forum and you supporters, for the most part, are extremely generous in all that you say and do towards the team. Some however, and fortunately only a few, are less than condusive to a positive atmosphere both at the ground and on this forum. I fully understand that that sort exist everywhereand believe me please when I say that their comments are treated with the contempt they deserve. I didnt mean to cause concern to all but to just a few who know who they are. Nuff said I think and no need to reply. I'll get my coat and turn off the lights..................lol

ROFL ..... Ronks tis Wednesday morning and was reading this thread with some concern, any undue crits of any player are never nice and really not called for when the "TEAM" is eleven strong. DS and many other players in our squad are unquestionably deserved of praise and admiration when they put in a solid perfomance but surely the "TEAM" is what is important and the saying "There is no I in team" springs to mind. However I do not recall any supporter Booing before the game and if heard by any self respecting MFC supporter Im sure they would put a word in their shell like :).

You are probally still the bar when this happens as it is generally as the team is announced and directed at 1 player in paticular (no names but I know he knows who he is).

A couple of years ago I did have a go at a supporter who lashed into Ryan Peters after 5 minutes and since then (when he turns up) has held this criticism to himself.

By your statement you are suggesting that I spend more time in the bar than I possibly should do........ ok maybe your right :)

Still there really isnt a reason to boo "our" players especially before theyve even kicked a ball..

We all have players we like and, those we don't think are good enough. But as Joseba Say's, one particular guy, who is usually to be heard above most others, Boo's one player every time the team is read out.

We may all have our own ideas as to the competence of certain players and management But, when those 11 lads go out onto that pitch, they- represent the team I support. Booing them individually or as a team is counter productive for all concerned.

Point this bloke out to other fans or club officials and am sure a quiet word in his ear would be sufficient.

Re Dan episode, Ronks is quite correct that some on here go on about him running around like a headless chicken etc but I know from the fans I chat too Dan is deffo a favourite player as was seen last season by those who voted him Player of the Season.

I do agree though that Dan looks his most dangerous playing on the left and long may he carry on playing for us there.
