It need's to be deemed as another defeat, whether it's 0-4 or 0-1 we dont get any points for the game.

It does however prove like last season when we lost 0-4 to ETU that some players are not good enough in this company and I envisage changes for the Gray's away game. I still believe we have the players to achieve a play off spot, we just need to get some momentum going after the winter break.

Roll on Wed's and let's get behind the boys.

Could not get to the ETU game, but am amazed how the team can change from last Tuesday at Sudbury, when they played so well winning 5 - 1 and now a 0 - 4 result.

Agree with EU's comment of "roll on Wednesday and let's get behind the boys"....

ETU were the best team i've seen this season and showed why this was their 10th league victory in a row. It's between them and Needham Market for the title now.

Those who were present at Sudbury know the team are much better than yesterday. We just happened to run into a better team that is bang in form.

We've now played four of the top five at home (still got Needham to come) and lost four...

UP THE TOWN!!!

Apologies for no highlights...Sausage fingers pressed the wrong button on my camera!!!

Agreed - I really think that we were outplayed by a much better side - I can't think of many sides that have been as strong as ETU were on Saturday. That's not to say that we played well - we didn't - but even if we'd have been at full strength and firing on all cylinders I think we'd have struggled to avoid defeat... Yep the scoreline was embarrassing, but we don't get extra points for it being close, so as long as we don't let the result affect us and we bounce back, then I think we can just put it down to experience. Lastly, I hope that Jon Moore and Mark Kirby are available in the near future, as they were sorely missed.

We stood close to the foul mouthed supporter Saturday and I agree that the language was disgusting however, standing where we do, we hear it all the time from the players and the bench only not so loud.

As for the game.

For our game against Sudbury we had a central spine of Mark Kirby, Craig Makay, Andy Jones, Jon Moore and Liam Hope with two wide players in Adam Wallace and Leon Ossei. Against ETU two of that central spine were not available and Adam Wallace was clearing carrying an injury. Leon went off at half time.

For any team to achieve success you need a settled side. Simples.

Enfield Town (0) 0

East Thurrock United (4) 4 Newby 16, 24, 42 Cornhill 35

Attendance 201

Enfield never got out of the blocks for this one, and paid a high price as East Thurrock romped out of sight by half time. Substitutions made an improvement, but with little threat created, and although East Thurrock were given a bit more to think about they still created the better chances in the second half.

East Thurrock posted a warning with a second minute shot rattling the cross bar but what followed was an impressive display from start to finish. Neil Richmond came close from a corner, heading over as Enfield’s only early move came down the left from Leon Osei. Kye Ruel was stopped in full flight by Rudi Hall, with Richmond hitting the free kick into the wall. Then with Enfield all at sea, Reiss Gilbey played the ball across the area where Richmond was upended but it fell for Kris Newby to fire home unmarked on the right. Enfield's Dan Forward nodded down in the box but no one was close enough to take advantage. Andy Jones then had a shot blocked as Enfield looked to level. The best chance came for Adam Walace but he got too fine a touch and put his header wide. When Leon Osei was dispossessed, Enfield’s defence waited for a whistle that never came. East Thurrock made no such mistake, and Rob Blackburne could only turn the shot into the path of Newby who calmly scored his second. Distracted, Enfield defence struggled. Bardle and Kendall prevented a third with a double block but it wasn’t for long. Richmond headed his next chance straight at Blackburne, but a superbly struck free kick from Max Cornhill made it three for the league leaders. It was effectively all over when Newby drilled low across the goal for the fourth just before half time.

Changes for Enfield at half time made no impact in reducing the deficit, and East Thurrock looked more like extending their lead. Gilbey had a piledriver clawed away by Blackburne as they threatened everytime they went forward. For Enfield, Stuart Blackburne and Sam Byfield created a chance but got in each others way and Blackburne’s shot was blocked. Byfield tested keeper Richard Wray with a shot at the post, before Enfield had another escape. With Blackburne beaten Dave Kendall was on hand to clear off the line. Another good save from Blackburne denied Cornhill and Joe Keith also had a shot blocked. A scramble at the back post from a Byfield corner was cleared, as Town struggled to get some consolation from the game. Joe Keith intercepted a clearance setting up Richmond who finally found the net only for the goal to be ruled out for offside. Richmond then hit the bar and Enfield escaped again when a header beat Blackburne but came back off the post.
