Away day to GUERNSEY????

My point of view (not necessarily that of CWUFC) is that an open forum for players, officials and supporters should held asap to discuss this issue.

There are probably quite a few issues for everyone whereby the GFA and the CCL would need to give clubs some sort of financial assurances.

The league need to be quite candid re this issue and a brief yes/no to club secretaries is not sufficient to make a formulated decision IMHO.

As a league, the opportunity to be adventurous and ground setting is quite clear for all to see.:applaus:

Finally, I am sure that Guernsey is part of the UK!:arcadefreak:

I dont think I have ever seen you bite CC :)

Yes you have - but this prick needsd a mauling, not a bite!

Was planning to visit Wibbadune Wednesday for the Surrey Senior Cup game against A.F.C Wimbledon, but think I will give it a miss now, give C.C. TIME TO COOL DOWN.NICE TO BE LOVED!!!!!

Wise move then.

Try to engage what brain you have before posting snide remarks about clubs on here.

They can be very irritating.

You will only end up alienating yourself and following the "Kent" League!

Thanks for that.

Although the defence of all these islands is the responsibility of the United Kingdom,[2] the Bailiwick of Guernsey is not part of the U.K. but rather a collection of separate possessions of the Crown.

We should have had AFC on Tue in the second leg semi final of the cup but as their 1st team are away and I think a few of the ressies are involved with the 1sts they postponed it. Also ground share issues........ AFC also have a 1st team game Friday and talking to them I think you may find a reserve team coming down to play you CC. Having said that they are a very good, strong, orgainised side with a few full time players involved so should be a good game which I should be able to come and watch.....Where is the best place to park as last time I found myself driving up and down tha A3.

There is no spectator car parking available on the ground for this match, only in the roads on the northbound A3 where you should cross to the ground via the footbridge.

I have received the AFCW squad for this game which is stronger than I would have expected.

They would be able to use C.W.U. Model, call it off 30hrs before Travelling.

Harsh comment there Smudge, feel like I should stick up for Chris and CWU here.

Ground preparation isn't guess work, if a match is called off that far in advance there will almost certainly be a good reason for it! No-one wants to postpone fixtures but sometimes it will make sense to call them off in advance as it reduces the stresses of having to reorganise things at short notice. Saying that, I appreciate that giving a pitch as much time as possible is a good idea but there are times when there is absolutely no chance. It's very harsh to knock the efforts of any of the volunteers who help keep football running at this level - and that goes from the groundsmen to the club and league officials.

Getting back on topic, I personally think the Guernsey thing is an exciting prospect for the CCL. There's a lot of interest in the Guernsey side, even on the mainland, so it could boost the profile of the league quite substantially. There are of course plenty of questions about who will pay for this all but overall it sounds promising!

Sweeney what is the Guernsey club called or are they yet to name it.Think most of you have missed the point,25 Flights,25 Hotel Accomodations the cheapest way comes to £1500 in my opinion, makes C.C.L. Premier Budgets look like peanuts. Is it sustainable, yeah ok for a jolly up,but thats all.Plus people who post on here knew about this well before we did, they believe it is Rubber Stamped, the done deal.

I think we should let the clubs in it decide.....Once a full and detailed account of who pays for what has been agreed.

I'd imagine that the Guernsey side would be newly formed specifically to join the CCL. There are already a number of teams on the island - the most famous of which is 'Vale Rec.' - starting place of Matt Le Tissier's career. Perhaps the new side would be an amalgamation of the best players but I doubt anyone posting on here would be able to tell you for certain, so it's all speculation on that front.

Guernsey has a larger population than the Faroe Islands, who of course run a whole host of national teams, so it'd be an interesting experiment to see where they end up in the system if this all happens.

Don't underestimate the level of support that Guernsey football has - it might be a fairly small community but I don't think they'd struggle to come up with the right sponsors. Do well in the pyramid and the long term benefits would be pretty interesting. If they can guarantee to cover the costs for visiting clubs and take a decent level of support to their away matches then that's a good start!

Would all players be able to make this journey ? would be interesting to see how many players wouldn't and if their team would be left short. Players with work commitments on a Saturday morning would be ruled out.

A good point Y.V.The time Teams would have to leave Saturday Morning would be ridiculous, especially as M.3,M25,M23 for some Clubs would have to be used.Good on Good day, atrocious on others.Late for your Flight,no excuse.
