Away day to GUERNSEY????

Smudge

Recommended Posts

How about a trip to play in Guernsey, full expenses paid flight and overnight stay included.I have received this information from a very reliable source, had to check my calendar to see if it was APRIL FOOLS DAY.This is what is being proposed for next season in Div 1,as Guernsey F.A. want to have a Team in the Combined Counties League.Makes the Arena look like a local derby.A meeting has already been held by the relevant Hierachy's,where it was given the thumbs up.

My mole in the hole, tells me that all Clubs will be asked to vote on this proposal going ahead,Guernsey F.A. quote a Stadium, and crowds of 500,well Smudge has done a piece of Research.Guernsey's F.A. Cup Final was played at a Stadium not unlike Croydon Arena, good playing surface, yes there is a running track,2 men and a dog, round the non stand side, suppose the other 498 were in the stand.NO N.H.S. in Guernsey,so Clubs will have to get Health/Travel Insurance(more expense) for all travelling. The C.C.L call it Groundbreaking akin to A.F.C Wimbledon, but A.F.C. Brought a lot of revenue to C.C.L. Clubs,Guernsey expect 40,which going by their claims of 500,expect it to be 10.All flights will be from GATWICK,fine for the Surrey based Clubs, but hang on you have to pay for PARKING AT AIRPORTS(more expense). Then there is Free Hotel, will this include FOOD AND DRINKS if not (more expense). Is this deal going to be underwritten by the Guernsey F.A.for how many years 1,2,3,because say they get promoted in 1 st season, and the pull the Funding will CURRENT c.c.l.Clubs have to fulfill their fixtures at their cost in future seasons, once you got foot in door syndrome.like YEOVIL to CARLISLE a long way to go too play a game of Football.Beware of County Fa's giving you anything,VOTE AGAINST.STRANGE TO ME THAT ME AND MY MOLEY ARE THE ONLY PEOPLE TO MENTION THIS,

I think it will be great if they join, parking at airport is going to be a tenner tops, hardly going to break the bank and were only going there for one game a season so whats the problem, plus I'd prefer to go to Guernsey for a game then some of the other dumps in the league.

think it would be easier if they joined the wessex as they already have east cowes , cowes sports , brading , newport , on the isle of wight and travel on sea is used there . also how would it work as far as midweek games are concerned ?

All away games for C.C.L. Clubs would be played on saturdays,no midweek games.Guernsey would play midweek games away.

Ellers care to name these dumps?

agree smudge this is a bad idea, can see it costing clubs money that they can barely affoed now.

seems another ill thought out plan, ccl and fa need to get together to sort things like promotions/grounds/ref standards and promoting the league locally rather than planning a jolly up to guernsey!!!

Guernsey FC would pay for the flights and overnight accommodation of the visiting teams.

Not sure what would happen if a match was called off, when would it be played?

Whilst I agree with your thoughts shouldn't Guernsey be entitled to play at a higher level.

Mind you do CCL rules allow for clubs outside of the UK to play in the league? Why not have French teams?

Gertcha,a bad idea it is in my opinion, have they considered consulting the C.C.L.Refs who will be Officiating at these games,or will they be allowed to take their Wives for a Weekend Away, The Players also need consulting,as it will be a 2 day trip for them, most aint got enough cash to buy a drink in their own Clubhouse,so how will they cope in Guernsey.

They would be able to use C.W.U. Model, call it off 30hrs before Travelling.whats the weather like in Guernsey.

Hope you don't plan to turn up at Wibbandune any time soon.

Sometimes you can be a right prick!

Where's your "big up" for clubs trying to rectify their ground problems?
