WEFC Vs Truro - 30th December

I thought that was a curiously downbeat performance from both the team and the supporters. Where was the atmosphere, where was the passion?

Up against the runaway leaders it should have been the most passionate game of the season so far but we almost seemed to approach it with an inferiority complex and never quite got going until the last 15 minutes.

The real difference was that Truro looked fitter, stronger and more organised - hardly surprising if they are a professional outfit who presumably train together many more hours per week than we do and will certainly have had more opportunity to do so in recent weeks than we have. Having said that they didn't have anybody who looked "scarily" good for the division and created very few chances. In fact, their keeper made more saves than Rob.

Maybe I'm being a bit unfair but I came away thinking that, outclassed though wew were in some ways, if we'd had a bit more belief we could have got something out of the game. Still, Truro looked like they probably had another gear in reserve should it have been needed.

(I should acknowledge that, having hauled myself out of my man-flu sickbed, maybe I was the one lacking the passion rather than the players....)

PS Referees who start the game letting strong challenges go by without whistling but gradually get more and more fussy really irritate me and must infuriate the players. From where I was standing Hales' sending off looked harsh (maybe he was over the top) but Justin's 2nd yellow was pathetic - just the usual levelling up exercise.

That ref must have had a really strong cup of tea at half time if you know what i mean! Thought the main reason we didnt get going until late on was the fact that we started with one upfront! What was that all about at home game Chenns was totally isolated! Come on Mudgy we need to be more attack minded at home. Agree with Rother though that Truro probably had another gear if needed. Great turnout though!
