Naming of the NEW Stadium

I would like to make it known that UBLOW will not be entering the bidding war to name the new Stadium. (If we had we would have still called it Harstdown Park).

However i am reliably informed that any Local companies would be welcomed.

i believe the following are in the pot.

Pete's FishBar Field of dreams. Or Catch of the Day.

Frank Thorley Theatre of dreams.

The Walmer Castle Wonderland.

The Rodney Road to wembley.

Hiltons Honest Haven or Bling It On.

Jimmy Goddens Baptism of Fire Arena.

or my personel favourite

Thanet District Council Centre of Culture

Please let me know if you hear of any others!!

In all seriousness IF this gets under way AND is actually erected as was stated AND on time then I think it only right the STAND should be named after the man who despite coming in for more criticism that any at this club over the years. The man who put it together & never gave in despite everything. Someone who has been Margate FC through & through & who will continue to be so long after his role has ended.

Yes, that man some may dislike (for whatever reason) but also for those many more of us that admire, respect & appreciate his hard work in all this.

It is only fitting I think that the new stand at least should be named the PIPER STAND.

(Enough of the Coffin end) - (its at the wrong end anyway in my view-Coffin House corner has always been at the Harrtsdown Road end.

As for re-naming the stadium.Well, I think that comes down to who has the most cash input into the club & who wants the sponsorship more and whoever that is,whatever their name they will at least get MY vote (yes even UBLOW BOWL will be acceptable to me- are you offering Mark?)

maybe more than one season, think it was disrupted because of the war...top goalscorer in 46/47 i think

I just hope that we don't go down the line of naming the stadium, stand or whatever after the organisation who puts up the money for it - what happens when that sponsorship goes, how often will we change the name?

I would like to see the stadium stay as Hartsdown Park, added to that could be "sponsored by..." and with regard to the stands I believe that the names of people who have given the club good service should be considered. That means whether players or officials - as an example hasn't Folkestone got the Wilf Armory stand?

We will probably see many players and I would have thought certainly two managers in the frame and for my own part one player who gave Margate FC great service over many years is worth consideration....Terry Joyce. To these names could also be added "sponsored by...."

The club (in a recent interview with Cliff) have confirmed that they are looking at a naming / sponsorship deal, in parallel with a normal new main club sposnor. These commercial opportunities are vital for ongoing funding, form part of the commercial strategy and will be more attractive to potential sponsors with the stadium re-development.

We are all aware of the importance of sponsors (or even sposnors) - it's the way the world is nowadays and we might as well make the best of it.

My real point is that if we have a pride in who we are/what we are, perhaps those sponsors might like to share that pride with us.
