Same old story!

blue balls

All the hard work off the pitch is not being mirrored by the players on it unfortunately. Can't remember the last time Cray didnt actually beat us! We may have been missing key players today but we did nowhere near enough to win the game and yet again two moments of madness have cost us dear at the back. Why did IOC take Grant off and move Robinson out of what was until then a solid back line? Oh well, here's looking forward to a much improved 2011 and hopefully we can finally start stringing some wins together starting with wins against Maidstone and Croydon. Looked a decent size crowd today.

I thought we played well in the 1st half at the new "Tracey Emin Stadium", agreed second half we just lost our way, Welford played a good game, unfotunately he gets drageed out onto the wings when he has the ball, but then puts it into the centre, and unfortynately needs another Welford there to meet the ball.

It was never going to be a great crowd was it. A supposed bank Holiday "Kent Derby", against a poorly supported Cray Wanderers side.

Very strange fixture scheduling. I would have expected Folkestone / Margate and Maidstone / Tonbridge as the Christmas derby fixtures.

Apart from the two goals in a 90 second spell (I know they are what counts) there was nothing to choose between the two sides I thought. One good chance created by each team up until the first goal. Yes, we were lacking up front. Grant wasn't too good in that 1st half & it was no surprise to me to see him substituted though whether that was for his lack of form up till then or an injury I'm not too sure.Pushing Curtis forward I thought was a good idea (one that I suggested some time ago) & he did seem to give us a little more "bite" up front & he did well.

We played the ball around well enough, equal to Cray but the end product wasn't there. I felt sorry for Welford up front but as mentioned elsewhere he was getting sucked out to the wings all too often & away from where is most dangerous,.

One thing I was bemused about was when Cloke went up front & Wilson dropped back into defence (or so it seemed to me). Cloke runs & is enthusiastic but a forward he most certainly isn't. Taking away our provider in Wilson didn't help matters. Incidentally Rogers' corners leave someting to be desired & i.m.o.Wilsons corners provide us & have done in the past, with more of a chance of scoring goals.

Cray, for a team currently sitting in the top 3 were no great shakes though they did have a couple of little men with pace & they were the ones doing the damage & it just goes to show that with a little more concentration at defending (seems to be a recurring theme) & a more positive attitude in front of goal we are equal to most teams in this division & COULD be fighting for promotion.Sadly I have all but given up on that but we should at least be safe from the drop this season as there are some REALLY bad sides out there this season below us & above us.

Shame a winning result didn't materialise having had a decent but not massive crowd back on the day.The players really DO NEED to start doing their bit AT HOME to have those people come back next time. We didnt deserve to win yesterday but we really didnt deserve to lose either so hopefully they'll come back regardless of no points yesterday.

You can't score goals when you don't have players in the box. With Crays second, the ball could have fallen to one of four who we were there waiting in the area, and it happened to fall to the one player who did not have a Margate player within 4 yards of him. Time and time again when a cross comes in there is nobody there on the end of it. Welford is strong with his head so surely he should be in there, around the penalty spot, not outside on the wing putting the ball in to where he should be.

Three months ago we had a team that looked like it was capable of beating anybody in this league, but recently it has been one inept performance after another. We should have wiped the floor with a Croydon team who have not won a match since, beaten a Tooting side after being two nil up and a Folkestone team who were in the bottom four. We have only lost Marsden since, and a good a player that he wasd did he make such a difference? I don't think so. I know it contraversial but one player who has really impressd me this season when he has played is Keister. Surely someone who can organise the defence must be good for the team.

For OIC to say in his interview that we should have had three points yesterday makes me wonder if he was watching the same match. I can only remember two clear chances and Cray looked a lot more organised that us. Of course once again we were missing players through suspension which is another issue we seem fall foul of.

We want more fans through the gate, but once again when we gat a half decent crowd its another dire home defeat, and for me another £30 plus spent and a depressing drive home.

I can see us in another relegation battle if things don't improve very soon!!

Yep, you are right about Welford. Can't do it all on his own and spends time out of position looking for a touch. If we could afford (or find) a proper strike partner for him we would get promoted.

As for Curtis, one of our best players I agree, but when you move him you leave a hole.

Overall I thought Cray were much more incisive, moved the ball forward quicker, got people in the box and didn't mind shooting at goal. Defensively, they dealt with the little that we offered. Deserved the victory, and 3-0 wouldn't have flattered them if that one hadn't come off the post towards the end. Sorry guys.

However, I agree with Cookie, we won't go down.

Thought Welford was poor yesterday. Not aided well, felt like we were playing six at the back at times. Wilson probably best player in my opinion.

Club need to address language on the pitch as well if they are trying to stop foul and abusive language from fans.

a proper move to 4-4-2 required, with keister and saunders back in the side.
