Wellsie

Recommended Posts

We have now added a new section to www.margate-fc.com to collect and share all the information about the stadium development project. You can find it under: Club Info / Stadium / Development.

All news, pictues and other information that can be made available will feature on the front page when released and also be added to this section so supporters can keep track of the development.

Appreciating it all takes a bit of time and effort ;is it possible to post the plans for the hotel/stand on the ( east?) side of the ground in this section as submiotted to TDC.

Similarly-for those of us unable to make thursdays meeting-will these be on display anywhere at the cray game ?

With regards to stage 2-i guess plans for this stand and facility are still in the plannning stage and not finalised yet ?

I am currently trying to get hold of some images from the architects. As for detailed plans, they are very difficult to display effectively on screen so I'll make a call on whether I include those on the website or not. And yes, Stage 2 is at an early plannning stage.

Unfortunately not at the meeting so i apologise for my ignorance.

I see capacity of west (existing) stand is given at about 400 seats.

If i recall correctly-about 6 months ago-it was being debated as to what would happen with the existing modular stand.

Do i take it that decision has been made to retain this facility/existing stand in its current format (hope so ) at least for the foreseable future- and is its current capacity about 400 -i thought it was nearer 250 ?

Eitherway-impressive to have two seated stands either side if that is the case-even if the existing one may only be a modular kit ;but we are only ryman/bss after all,so looks good to me

Thanks for posting the plans yesterday-all looks great.

(one of the links does not work )

Sorry folks, thought I'd tested both links. Anyway, the Stadium Plan link is now fixed.

That's it! A launerette! There have been proposals for most things but no one has thought of that in the development! ;)

Anyway, Steve Winch may wish everyone washed their own kit!

I was thinking of just a small cupboard to wash the players kit-but you never know-out of the craziest thoughts comes.....

Maybe a dry cleaning company would take up a lease on a small unit somewhere on site-would save the locals going into town !!

I doubt it as they are quite new anyway. However we certainly do need more light thats for sure. It's pretty dim out there these days yet when they were initially installed all seemed quite bright. My guesss is that the original settings have been altered over the months & that may have caused a reduction of light onto the pitch. Just my opinion.

Reading the letters page in todays Gazette can I confirm something. Do Margate FC have planning permission to build the coffin end stand and facilities, all weather pitch, Hotel and stand or does some of it have to go back to the council for amendment?

As I understand it permission for the coffin end and the all weather pitch is granted but the hotel may require amendment due to less rooms being needed. Is this right?

Does anyone know when work will start too?

Amendment required for hotel with less rooms. North Stand and 3G pitch already approved. Contractors / developer working up construction schedule.

Thanks for todays update.

For those of us who are challenged by what is east and what is west-can you be more specific about what stands are possibly going where.

(i could swear that tivoli end is further south than hartsdown-but what little do i know )

North = Old Coffin End

South = Hartsdown Road end

East = Facing Tivoli - where the hotel is being built

West = Current seated stand - towards 5-a-Side centre.

In reality, north is actualy looking over to Margate station from the Harstdown end but the North, North East end is a bit of a mouthful!

Wellsie, can you confirm one way or another that all these 11th hour alterations to the plans will or will not incur further delays. Will the council not want to look again at the amendments & make new decisions.

No I can't say one way or the other Tony. Do bear in mind though that there are contracts in place with the developers for occupancy by 2 operators so there's a fairly hard end point.

The issue about sight lines is though just about where to put seats; east stand or west stand so that doesn't sound like a big issue to me.

I'l take you're word for it but to me your

North is East

South is West

East is South (agree with Michael)

West is North

..but I don't want to confuse the issue :) Maybe my bearings are slightly out.
