FANS FORUM - TONIGHT

The fear is understandable. The development (and what it will mean in terms of youth development) means pretty much the end of their club in the long-term.

Oh, don''t say that! There are more local youngsters than can be developed at Margate. Those that don't make the grade with Margate usually end up playing on the other side of the island anyway.

Admittedly, reading their forum you would think the only thing they are interested in is sneering at the Bluenoses/TOTS, but that applies to most second-fiddle local clubs.

They are a nice enough lot apart from a couple of twerps.

The Ramsgate forum thread on this subject is amusing. Apparently the development is going to use a bit of land they own: link

Don't think it's meant to be funny though.

terrible thing jealousy but if its a certain person or persons land cut out a foot square turf and post it to them its prob what they have paid for out of their community/poll tax...

Whilst last night was ostensibly about the development-and again-what great news-i believe earlier in the week it was muted that some players and in particular-IOC would be in attendance to possibly answer some questions.

Was IOC there-and did he answer any questions/have anything to say about on pitch developments ?

In reply to all of those complaining Ramsgate supporters about park land being used for the development. I would like to put something straight since I lived in All Saints Avenue and grew up using the park for many sports including golf and football. For the above reasons I believe it gives me a right to have an opinion on the matter.

The old golf pitch and putt has not been used for many years and seems to be used for local dog walkers to let there dogs leave little presents all over it. The land North of the 5 a side pitches had a cricket pitch on it but again that has not been used for cricket for many years. Now it has a terrible football pitch put in place. For many years duing my childhood I spent much time playing football in the park training and having kick about with my brother. During my time at Margate and Thanet Colts youth we had no decent outside floodlit training facilities. Kids these days have great local facilities for football in Minster's 3G pitch, Margate's 5 a side pitches and now the proposed full size 3G pitch at Margate FC.

Also with these new facilities I suspect that Thanet's youth will benefit greatly and because of this, the overall standard of football will improve. This will benefit both Ramsgate and Margate in the long run.

If this development affects a few dog owners, quite frankly I couldn't care less. I believe the benefit outweighs the loss.

If Ramsgate cannot get over the fact that at last good things are happening at Margate and if they do not want to use these great new facilities, then I feel it is their loss.

Great news for Margate FC. Now lets make this happen.

Some of the so called "facts" the Ramsgate fans talk about; e.g. ownership of land, are just plain wrong so we can take any comments from their forum with a large pinch of salt. Of course the businesses that go in will contribute to the local economy across the island through emplyment etc. which given the wider economic landscape right now has to be very welcome.

We have also been fortunate in having our stadium on the edge of unused land, whereas Southwood is of course residential land-locked making development and progression very difficult.
