Alright fellow urchins

I want your thoughts on coach travel,recently I have had a few comments from people regarding the early times with which we leave for away games,sometimes arriving over 2 hours before kick off.

We know why we leave early as we travel with the staff and in recent times have struggled to fill our own coaches.

What I want to find out is that if we did fans only coaches and moved the leaving time back to 12 or 1 depending on where we was playing how many extra people we could get to games.It is something that will be reviewed later in the season,just wanted your thoughts on that or any other aspect of away travel

If we've got a big game on at 12:45 I'd much rather go early and see as much as possible (unless we're going somewhere in the middle of nowhere with no TV at all...)

 

(BTW Sunderland v Bolton counts as a big game this weekend)

Rob, have you looked at like a smaller coach, for supporters only?? I know most common coaches are your 50 seat jobbies, but some companies (Clintona for instance) have various other sizes as well. In the past Dagenham have used smaller coaches (20-30 seat ones) for Essex Senior games when there was not the demand for a full 50 seater. This would mean you could still have your own coach going at the times you want, but without loads of empty seats??

we have used small coaches in the past but unless you fill them they are expensive.

Clintona wanted £320 for a 19 seater to tonbridge last season and a 29 seater was £350

we can get a coach for £370

I see. I guess the major cost is the driver and that won't change whatever the size of the coach (or not much anyway).

I actually agree with Thommo.

I must be losing it big time.

 

Getting there early has advantages.

Good drink and chance to chat with local.

Lowestoft, Bideford and Croydon for example.

Early game on T.V. is good for those who want to watch it.

Some people can't make it though that early and don't drink,as strange as this sounds,when we went to Croydon we got there before 1 and I wasn't drinking,I was bored out of my mind for 2 hours

Maybe,when I get my 9 seater I can take a few who wanted to leave later as i won't be drinking at Saturday games if I am working
