New Stadium Query

PJ-STFC

Recommended Posts

I know it is very early days to be talking about this, but it is significant...

Wexham Park stadium was rated 'A'-grade, I believe, and this would have been 'almost enough' to allow us into the Conference.

What additional features must the new ground have in order that we could progress up through the Conference League and into League Div 3?

OK, that may be a very long-term view, but there is no point STFC having a new "Ryman Div 1" stadium, if we have aspirations to return to the Conference, and beyond. We don't want another '49 seats' fiasco... Worse still, we don't want a stadium that cannot be enlarged/adapted as required for the higher tiers of the pyramid.

I would hope the new stadium is built to Division Three standards at least so then at least when we are ready to push for that spot, only minor modifications would be required.

6,000 capacity and 1,000 seats. Segregation put in place if and when it's required, six/eight turnstiles so there are three/four for home and away supporters. I'm sure it's around somewhere exactly what's required, so I'll have a look around.

I'm sure that the plans for a new stadium will meet all of the criteria for the Conferenc at the very least. It would seem pointless to build a stadium that would then struggle to get into the top tier of Non-league. The good thing about the Kennedy Park area is that I believe there would be room to develop it further should it be required. But for now, I'm sure we would all just welcome a Conference-friendly brand spanking new stadium.

As long as it's possible to change ends at half time all the time that the league we're playing in allows it! It won't be the same if we have to stay in one spot.

Did you read the part in the programme about the Sussex County League and the fact that no spectator's are allowed behind the goals?! Explains why they all sat in the stand I suppose.

Does anyone know that the minimum capicity for the football league is now only 4,000?

Yes, it would be nice to have a new stadium, Football League standard if possible, but don't get your hopes up. The ideas for this re-generation project are still at a very early stage. What if it dosen't actually happen?

Received an email from a non-league email list which stated:

"Definitive listing no - as there are dozens of minor regulations on the number of directors seats, dugout size, hospitality provision, press facilities, dressing rooms, ground safety issues etc., etc. But the "big" ones for promotion from the Conference to the Football League are:

Capacity:

Qualification criteria - 4,000 total(with proof of ability to raise to 5,000); 500 of this to be undercover seating (with proof of ability to raise to 1,000).

Admission criteria - (which must be met by May 1st of initial season in the FL) - 5,000 total; 1,000 undercover seats (with proof of ability to raise to 2,000).

Membership criteria - (which must be met by May 31st of the third season) - 5,000 total; 2,000 undercover seats.

Floodlighting:

Div 3 - average lux value 350; minimum at any one point 210 (to be met by May 1st of first season).

Pitch:

Maximum slope can not exceed 1:60 in any direction."

Where did this come from?

I stood behind the goal at southwick on saturday and seen other people do it in the last few seasons in the county league. I suppose someone mean't that no one stands behind the goal because most of the time you'll be lucky to get 100 in the ground

Thanks to all - I had hoped this would generate some interest (and I've not been disappointed <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> )

It would make enormous sense to build for as high a league as could be justified (ie League Div 3), since costs to modify the ground at a later date would far out-weigh the additional costs of building a slightly larger stadium from day one.

I think my concern was that the plans could see development on all sides of the stadium that would prevent future growth - hence the initial plan needs to at least make provision for such growth.
