Slough Town 3, Leatherhead 1.

A bit of a hit n miss first half, Slough didn't seem to deserve their 41st minute lead through Gyoury [or the nearest L'head defender?]. I was nervous for the secnd half but Boot's 47th minute scrambled strike calmed us down and we seemed to control or at least not concede too much. Hodges got his 5th of the season on 76mins after good work from Boot on the right.

 

The formation was worrying [spencer running the midfield on his own??]. but we saw some good performances. I hate to single players out for poor play but Mark Bartley was atrocious. He played last season as a covering right wing back and was rubbish then. Playing as a centrehalf today, he was caught out on so many occasions. Against a better side, we would have been punished. Steve Daly cannot come back soon enough.

I agree, but you forgot to mention that we should have got at least 4, if not 5. We also conceded a silly goal in injury time. A better team would have got 3 or 4 judgeing by our defence today.

Subs: Hyatt, Payne, Whatford, Bakishan & O'Rourke

 

Hyatt and Payne came on to replace Hodge & Boot toward the end of the second half.

Man of the Match anyone? I thought Boot was the best player on the pitch, especially for all his little flick-ons and passes which split open the defence.

Whilst it's true to say that Leatherhead could have scored 2 or 3 more the reality is they didn't and missed chances are part and parcel of the game. If they had taken all of their chances and us all of ours, we'd have probably won 10-4.

 

As for the first goal I had it down as going in off their number four - can you confirm Matt?

It did deflect off their number four, but it is classified as Gyoury's goal as his flicked header was on target before the deflection.

We already have a video clip of the goal, only its not very good. If yours is better (which i'm sure it will be) we will be more than happy to have it on our site.

And by the way, not wanting to take anything away from Nick Gyoury, but his header wasn't on target. It was going across the goal. But I think he deserved it anyway.
