Eversley Centenary 5-a-side Tournament - Sunday 26th June 2011

bad timing with the 5 a side tournament clashing with our mates leaving party in fleet saturday night. Most of us were feeling rather sick Sunday morning although not good enough for an excuse. Main thing was no recognised keeper and short of a striker meant we were not as full strength as we have been in the previous two tournaments of which we won !

A re-shuffle required maybe!

Great tournament and i really did think that AS Park would go all the way. Very organised, good striker who rarely missed. We tested them though and with bit of luck could have sneaked into the quarters.

Didnt see Blackwater play at all but they are always strong as they were for years and years in the Yorktown event.

and just for Milesy, yes we lost 4-1 to Kraphill after gifting them 3 goals. Caught us cold Milesy mate. Prob better to go out in the early rounds rather than to get oh so close and fail though.

I think if we won a third 5 a side event in a row we prob wouldnt get invited back!

Milesy, feel free to tell all about my worldy which was a carbon copy of my cup final goal.

I was to tell you about your list of worldys JJ I'd be here all day! But agree, very well run event, surprised ourselves by getting to the semi's but did go out to the eventual winners.

At least I'm not sunburnt at all this morning....

Could it be all that impressive training you put in for your (potential) new Club on Saturday JJ ?(or maybe some of their players that played for "other" sides at the 5as nobbled you smilewinkgrin.gif

Thanks for all the positive comments.

Our committee worked extremely hard over the weekend to ensure that the tournament ran smoothly. Packing everything away yesterday afternoon in that heat, was exhausting work.

Thought the standard of the teams was very good and a few good sides, didn't even progress from the group stages.

Having now understood what is involved in running a tournament, we are already planning to imporve the tournament and increase the number of teams/pitches for next year. Hopefully we'll see the majority of teams returning.

Thanks for organising the tournament Daniel. Thought it was done very well and all had a good day.

I'm happy with my managerial debut! I thought that our semi final was basically the final as the two strongest teams were in it. So after going 1 up but losing it in the last 20 seconds was gutting. Needless to say Blackwater then went and won it.

Thought Kav Adair (Liphook FC Manager) in goal for us was superb and kept us in it on numerous occasions. The only goal we conceeded until the semi was in the 1st game against Johnno's lot. Could have been two though if Brunty didnt go around the keeper then put it wide ey :-)

Didnt see your goal Johnno.......think your making it up. Prove it.
