ESL TO BECOME STEP 6 LEAGUE

Recommended Posts

I have it on good authority that due to the poor stadia, lack of numbers, lack of feeder league and a general low quality of football that the Essex Senior League (currently STEP 5) is to become a STEP 6. The top 6 teams in this seasons competition will be moved sideways into the Kent league (the remaining STEP 5 league) unless the top team make the grade to be promoted to STEP 4. This decision has been made at the highest level.

Cant see it happening, tho the point about several poor grounds is well made. The travel is not too bad for the East London based clubs, altho several of them have the bad groundsmentioned. But for the likes of Burnham,Witham,Stansted, the travel prospects are daunting.Burnham to Herne Bay or Hythe on a Tuesda night.!!!?

On top of that I heard another rumour....Aveley FC stadium will be dismantled and rebuilt completely in Burkina Faso. Also the club will be disbanded and every single one of their 30 supporters will be dismembered a la Wallace in Braveheart and their pieces scattered to the four corners of Essex! It's only a rumour anyway!grin.gif Hi ginger how're you doing?Any more friends on Facebook?dance%20(2).gif

Ginger? Please elaborate.

Regarding the logistics, the league will be re-named accordingly and the fixtures secretary will be responsible for making sure there are no ridiculous mid week journeys. Having said that if you consider Witham Town to Barkingside (A12), is that any difference to Bowers to Herne (A13/M25).

This is going to happen people.

Hullbridge, Clapton, Eton Manor, Basildon, Barking, Bethnal Green are the main culprits.

I agree TAFKAM9 but you do not own the ground and you do not have standard facilities required for this league.

No axe to grind, just simply passing on a message from a friend.

For what it's worth, Tilbury FC reserves used to play in the Kent League Div 2 (Up until 2006/07 Season).

Midweek games were restricted to the likes of Thamesmead Town, Chatham, Slade Green, VCD, Lordswood etc etc. The long haul games to the coast, e.g. Deal Town, Herne Bay, Hythe Town, Folkestone Invicta, Margate and Dover were kept to the Saturday.

It worked quite well, but could be a pain if there was trouble with the Dartford Crossing.

Mark Hoffman- the Don Quixote of fans focus just how far is he 'out of the loop?' Its one thing to be a harmless fantastist but lets hope he leaves it now before someone does take offence at one of his posts, non league football is a very small world.

Is that a threat? You have tried intimidating me once "Don". Your internet alter-ego may land you in hot water as you also make no secret of who you are. Get a life Al Pachino as we are all friends here.

I also heard a rumour that when the league chairman decides to retire that Hoffman is a dead cert to replace him ? Talks already taken place apparently .
