I thought that Eton Manor where the tenants of Barking and paid Barking for the groundshare. However, I now understand from an earlier post that Eton Manor are joint tenants with Barking, with Barking council being the owners are responsible for the ground and its upkeep.

 

I can't understand why Barking council allow Eton Manor to play their rent free. But as this is the case, I can understand the earlier comment that stated if you don't pay anything then you can't complain, which is quite right ! I suppose that if Eton Manor don't like how the council treat them, then they should go and find another ground to play at rent free (if one exists).

 

Also, as the owner-tenant relationship is between Eton Manor and Barking council, why haven't Eton Manor been dealing with the council instead of posting comments about Barking on their website? In this day of text messaging and email, how Eton Manor did not supply the council a contact number and a secondary emergency contact number is beyond belief. For a step 5 club, this is very poor.

 

As always it is the fans that have suffered. In this case the Burnham fans will have made a lengthy and wasted journey. Hopefully, Eton Manor will have learnt from this sorry episode and will now have supplied Barking council with contact numbers so that this doesn't happen again.
