Floodlight failure

Have just noticed this on the eton manor website http://www.s33286877...sitehome.co.uk/

Burnham Game Abandoned

Eton Manors home game with Burnham was abandoned at half time due to floodlight failure. This was a very unfortunate turn of events, as both our Landlord and Ground sharing partners Barking FC, knew that there was no chance of completing the fixture days before KO, but failed to notify anybody but each other. We are very sorry that all of the very nice people from Burnham, and all of the supporters who came to watch the match, had a wasted trip, but circumstances were beyond our control.

Pretty strong stuff from e.m. It would seem that everyone, players, supporters, officials had a wasted afternoon.

Blue Man, are Eton Manor correct when they say that the game was allowed to go ahead in the knowledge that there was no possibility of it lasting more than 45 minutes? If it is, then I can understand their frustration as they must pay a lot of money for the groundshare.

Just feel sorry for all the supporters. I assume that Eton Manor will have refunded the supporters their entry fee?

I don't know and i couldn't possibly speculate. However, what is scandalous, is that they have the audacity to complain about this when they do absolutely nothing to aid the upkeep of the ground. It is an absolute disgrace for them to complain when they do jack to aid the ground and then whinge as soon as something goes wrong.

"they must pay a lot of money for the groundshare" No they dont.

Blueman group - Barking have been bit disappointing this year? Maybe time for a new manager. It all seems to have gone downhill when Neil Day left and Chas Liddiard got injured

We've missed the few players that jumped ship really, with Ben Turner and Ricky Mackin leaving, the defense hasn't been as solid and Joe Turner hasn't been scoring as many goals. He's off the mark now, so hopefully should so a few more goals; with Chas now fit again and hopefully scoring consistently we rise up the table, but losing Butler is a blow and losing Mogege will be a blow when he goes.

In regard to the floodlight failure at the Eton Manor Burnham game.

I was there and party to a lot of what went on. This was not a floodlight failure; these lights were clearly dysfunctional and the damage quite clear. One of the boxes had burnt out-- my guess is that a fault like this would have been apparent as soon as it happened, and it did not happen immediately before or during the game. It also looked very much to me as if someone had known about it and simply not informed Manor; that is honestly how I saw it. Now, the host club may well have issues with their tenants; I have no idea of the relationship or what goes on. But whatever that is, and whatever feelings exist, if someone knew about it they had a duty to make sure the information was passed on as appropriate. If they did not my sense is they would struggle to justify that action.

But it is a very serious matter in a step 5 league for something like this to occur. In 23 years of senior football I cannot recall its like.

Its the councils problem to fix the floodlights not ours.

If the people who maintain the ground were they the day before (monday) they may have noticed and notified.

Not my issue to get involved but Barking Manager has asked me to state that the club contacted the council as soon as they knew there was a problem as per procedure, the council did not contact Eton Manor with an update as they claimed they did not have a contact number. As stated no axe to grind and no hidden agenda, simply passing a message on from a friend.

This is the sort of attitude becoming of Barking FC supporters and the reason the club has gone down the pan.

RIP Barking FC
