Strangely enough I was going to create a thread but Hookey beat me to the punch, what confused me slightly was that our bid supposedly went out at the first round so we were not even in the running when the winner (Russia) was announced, also we only received two votes one of which was our own so were never really at the races.

Seriously though had the Russian delegation wheeled out Anna Chapman they would have won by an even greater margin, we will never learn will we as instead of David Cameron, Prince William and David Beckham we should have sent Cheryl Cole and Kate Winslet over to Zurich

Now the dust is settling on yesterday's catastrophic decision to award the 2018 tournament to Russia and 2022 to Qatar, I really can't think of two more ridiculous and clearly 'crooked' outcomes. Our bid was obviously by far the the best and most robust, indeed if the tournament were to be held in this Country tomorrow we would already have everything firmly in place and even more so following the Olympic Games, do members think that the Panorama programme had something to do with it.

It is Panorama and in particular the BBCs remit to investigate and report, timing not great but it was bound to leak if they'd held it back. The Panorama programme wasn't the first to expose the corruption, come on - we've known about it for years. The surprise is that we wasted £15m on a corrupt process, that is what should make us mad, the waste of public money that I'm sure everyone would have a different opinion on how it would have been better spent.

It is thought and this seems to have been leaked by one of the FIFA delegates that at a lunch yesterday with the delegates and Sepp Blatter,of which 2 of their colleagues were obviously not there,because of suspension amist claims of corrution,Blatter sat them down and with words to the effect of "only 22 of you are here today and we know who's fault that is,I would strongly recommend that you vote accordingly"

2 hours later the best technical bid and a bid of which 9 delegates had claimed they would support,only receives 2 votes,1 of which is cast by themselves.

This clown Blatter must be removed from power before he single handily destroys the game our forefathers created

It's another example of how the rest of the world despises us over our arrogant stance alongside the USA as the world's guardians. Before we illegally invaded Iraq, we always figured in the top places at Eurovision. Immediately in the aftermath we got NIL points and have never recovered, despite our songs being good enough. The rest of the world despises us.

One vote for us and 21 not! Just like Eurovision.
