Wexham park and more

Hello

Sorry if this has already been answered but

If STFC does move to Kennedy Park, what will happen with the old ground and the Thorne’s

Does this mean that they are effectively left with a large expanse of useless ground on which they can neither Build nor use for another purpose away from football..

Lets face it the Clubhouse and driving range are hardly a good use for that space (revenue wise)

Will they be able to build on this. what will the reaction from the locals be to a superstore or 200 plus houses..i used to live in wexham and can imagine what the above would mean

I think that Kennedy Park is a very good opportunity for the club to survive and prosper, but would mean short term inconvenience such as Loss of revenue and

Instability would cause lack of sponsorship and reluctance from new players to join..

But if we got a new stadium and a bright future then it would be worth the sacrifice for the next 3-5 years

Lastly I think that Kennedy Park is a grand name for a Football Stadium..Very old fashioned and better than all these stadiums named after large corporate ( but I think that is the least of our Worries now)

Anyhow…

Trying to discern the Thorne's intentions is extremely difficult, so I won't even guess. The ground lies in South Bucks, and that council is almost rabid about not developing any green belt land , at all, ever---but some of the surrounding land is in Slough. Slough have little choice but to develope green belt land due to its housing targets----See this weeks express for letters opposing the development south of Casleview. I don't know if the Thorne's have an option on any land in Slough itself---if they do, then expect houses to be built on it. Otherwise the Thorne's appear to have an option to purchase (and a long lease) on a football ground which they can't develope. I understand that while at one stage their lease required them to ensure the ground was used for football, but that at the last lease renewal, this condition was revoked.I am happy to be corrected if any of the above is wrong as quite frankly, it baffles me. <img src="/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

The Thorne's big problem is with South Bucks District Council who are so strict on planning you can barely fart without filling in a form with 5 copies plus maps ! If they opt to buy the ground they will be left with nothing much to do with it unless their plans are very long term or someone has given them he nod for development.
