I called off my game this morning (frozen pitch). However, the pitch right next to it was playable.

So you've protected yourself against the 0.000000000001% chance you'll get sued whilst ruining other people's day. Well done.

There are far too many games called off cos the ref's a bit soft. Don't give me all this crap about protecting players - you're just like coppers and only protecting yourselves. Conference refs have a bit more balls and allow games to go ahead when the ground's hard. Supply league and lower refs have no [censored].

They don't.................... Look at Hamptons game..............................

My take on it is that if we defend like that we will win nothing. First goal was farsical defending from us and the second and third were also partially down to defensive errors. We worked hard to get ourselves back in it and looked strong only to self destruct again by giving the ball away cheaply and not defending properly. Inexperience really cost us and that sometimes happens when you have such a young squad as we have however we need to be better. All credit to Molesey that worked their hearts off and took their opportunities and deserved to win. However titles and promotions are certainly not won in November, there is a very long way to go.........

CHERTSEYTOWN, QUITE AN HONEST REPLY. IN MY OPINION, I THINK YESTERDAY MOLESEY'S DESIRE WAS A BIT MORE THAN CHERTSEYS, AND I AGREE AS A MANAGER YOU WOULD LOOK AT ONES OWN TEAMS FAILINGS FOR THE RESULT BUT SURELY, MOLESEY'S 10 WHO MUST HAVE BEEN A PAIN IN A*SE FOR YOUR DEFENDERS ALL GAME, HIS AND MOLESEYS SECOND GOAL WHERE HE'S LOBBED YOUR ONCOMING DEFENDER AND HIT IT ON THE VOLLEY FROM THE EDGE OF THE BOX CANNOT BE DOWN TO A MISTAKE, PERHAPS YOU MIGHT WANT TO SAY IT WAS PURE SKILL THAT DONE YOUR DEFENDER, CERTAINLY THE GOAL OF THE GAME.

LOOKING AT THE LEAGUE TABLES, BEFORE CONCEDING 5 YESTERDAY, CHERTSEY HAD ONLY LET IN 13 IN THE LEAGUE, NOW THAT TELLS ME YOUR DEFENCE CAN'T BE THAT BAD ! MAYBE A BIT OF CREDIT SHOULD GO TO MOLESEY AND NOT BE SO HARSH ON YOUR DEFENDERS, EXCEPT THE STUPID DEFENDER WHO CLIMBED ALL OVER MOLESEYS FORWARD FOR THE PENALTY................ !

ALSO CHERTSEYTOWN, OTHER TEAMS NOW KNOW THAT IF THEY DO THEIR HOMEWORK AND STOP O'REGAN PLAYING, AS MOLESEY DID SUPERBLY YESTERDAY, THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE MUCH OTHER THREAT FROM ANYONE ELSE, EVEN PAPALI WAS QUIET YESTERDAY...... I NOTICE O'REGAN KEPT SWAPPING WINGS BUT DIDN'T GET ANYTHING OUT OF THE MOLESEY DEFENDERS..............YOU NEED A PLAN 'B' I THINK , AND JUST PUMPING THE LONG BALL AS CHERTSEY DID IN THE SECOND HALF ISN'T THE ANSWER ?

ANYWAY, FULL CREDIT TO CHERTSEY WHO PLAYED THEIR PART IN A VERY ENTERTAINING MATCH, AND MADE A GAME OF IT IN THE SECOND HALF.

YOU ARE RIGHT THO' CHERTSEYTOWN, THERE IS STILL ALONG WAY TO GO,.................. BUT PREVIOUS RECORDS SHOW THAT YOU CAN REALLY ONLY AFFORD TO LOSE 4 GAMES TO BE CHAMPIONS, SO GUILDFORD NEED TO START LOSING GAMES IF THEY ARE TO BE DISMANTLED FROM TOP SPOT.

HOWEVER MAYBE. AS THIS SEASON THE LEAGUE IS SO CLOSELY COMPETITIVE, TEAMS CAN OFFORD TO LOSE MORE THAN 4 GAMES AND STILL WIN THE LEAGUE, MAKES IT ALL VERY INTERESTING.

What the hell?  I am staggered by this response.  Playing on a rock solid iced-up pitch is not going to be doing anyone any favours.  The goalkeeper's face when I demonstrated just how hard 'his' goalmouth told me pretty clearly he was happy with the decision, for one.  Not a single player tried to change my mind either (They were already on the pitch and had pretty much come to the same conclusion themselves).

The pitch was dangerous.  No game will go ahead on a dangerous pitch on my watch.  If that makes me a 'soft' ref who is only protecting myself, then I think that's a disgraceful attitude for you to hold.

It hit -5 degrees last night and by the time of the inspection (which was in turn 20 minutes before kick-off) it had only risen to -2, so I doubt many games went ahead today...

NICEGUY, I agree no 10's finish was excellent but we gifted the ball away overplaying between our penalty box and the halfway to set up the opportunity. We had a plan B and for the first 30 minutes of the second half we dominated and got level with the only thing our keeper had to do was face a penalty which gamefrom a counter attack. Our defence has been strong but our defending yesterday was poor on every goal although, as I said before, credit to Molesey. Guildford are clearly the team to beat but have drawn a number of games and are still to go away to the top challenging sides. It is clearly going to be tight which is obviously a good thing for the League and you supporters but certainly gives us managers and coaches in the top six or so clubs a stressful time! Just got to get on with it and look forward to the next game

The thing is Nice Guy..... Guildford have not lost a game yet and I feel the coming up to what is a very hard period...Christmas, the points that you have on the board are very important... Guildford will win the league this year and all the other teams will still be playing Combined counties prem... That is unless some employ better management teams to get them out of it............

Mewcenary,in total agreement with you,at no time should games be played on an unsafe surface, not worth the risk of injury. No Games were played in the Croydon Municipal League today, which goes someway to prove your point.Purley Way is always playable, but 3 days of Frost,it is like a Road.Well done mate, your not soft, your sensible.unlike V.P.C.T.F.C.

AGREE CHANGING THE SYSTEM PLYED MORE PRESSURE ON MOLESEY, BUT TO SAY ALL YOUR KEEPER HAD TO DO IN THE SECOND HALF WAS FACE A PENALTY MMNNNN STRANGE THAT, EACH HALF IS FOR 45 MINS NOT 30 MINS SO WHAT ABOUT HIM LETTING IN 2 GOALS (5 IN TOTAL) ?

ANYWAY, AS I SAID PREVIOUSLY, YESTERDAY MUST HAVE BEEN A ROLLER COASTER RIDE FOR BOTH MANAGEMENT TEAMS !

Just to check... Would there be anything to stop Guildford getting promoted in terms of their ground or anything?

Not that I'm clutching at straws or anything lol

I think its very premature to say Guildford will win the league and I think Molesey and Chertsey will be pressing all the way, and if not as long as Molesey hold on to their players for net season I think we would be favourites

I still think it's very early doors to be calling the league yet. Even with Guildford ahead and still unbeaten (another man sent off against them ) bottom of the table Bookham ran them mighty close. There's an awful lot of football to be played yet -and a lot of awful football.

It seems to me that virtually every team in this league on their day is capable of taking something out of a game against anyone. Molesey since the dodgy penalty assisted draw we scraped agaiinst them seem to have used that experience positively and have gone on a great run since not leaving games close enough to be affected by freak mischance . We still have Chertsey who are strong ,Sandhurst ,Egham,Badshot Lea none of them easy teams to play.

Then there are the middling teams some such as ourselves who've done less well than expected in the first half of the season and hopefully will prove difficult oppoonents for you top guys in the coming months. Other teams like RPV are probably doing better than expected and are capable of very good performances against supposedly better teams .

My only hope is the bad weather doesn't last too long so we're not all playing every day in April .

No way will the Spectrum be given the green light for Step 4 football. There is a juicy little rumour that Guildofrd will be able to go up ut I have no idea how. If they do win the league and cannot go up it will make our league look a bit silly again. Please don't go on about 2nd placed teams going up cos if there are enough champions in other leagues there is no chance of it.

Hayes gate best footballing team? behave The Fan, the league has a long way to go and I think Div 1 will go all the way to the wire.. But Hayes Gate are not going to be in the running.

ELLERS hayes gate are the best footballing side in the div. as just keeping the ball, is not what wins you games. i am aware that they wont win league, i could list the things they are short of, but as i say i have seen everyone, including your side, before you jumped ship. and i have to say hayes gate were worth the entry fee. i did say WARLINGHAM would win the league, and i dont think i will be wrong, as i dont wear blinkers. coffee%20%282%29.gif

we're going to do all we can to burst that Molesey bubble on Tuesday (weather permitting). With snow forecast, temperatures no higher than -1 i doubt it will go ahead. Remember that its not a 3pm kick off. Temperatures on Tuesday night could be -3 or -4. If it does go ahead we may need the orange ball ! "

Johnno, thanks for that great advice and we will bear in mind the fact that it might be colder at night than during the day. We also know that you like to be kept informed and perhaps you could let us know what time of day you would like us to have the pitch inspected - as it is almost certain this will have to be done. That way you will not be too inconvenienced should the game be called off for any reason and can plan your evening accordingly. I prefer an early shout to be fair, but your input would be extremely helpful. Unfortunately, we have no orange or yellow balls, so perhaps you could bring yours!

The fan, who do you think will be the surprise package in the 2nd half of the season and who do you think will drop out of the running?

Always happy to give advice Manager50. Dont think a pitch inspection is necessary do you? Gonna snow tonight and temperatures will not get above freezing!
