Mark, that just sounds like something you'd do at home with the curtains drawn and a few "freinds" round!

Maybe we should pay AFTER the game & on the way out for what it was worth (in each ones own opinion). Whether that be £1, £5, £10, or more.. I remember some club doing this a few weeks ago. (didn't think they made much though..or did they? .Cant recall that bit))

Ah but would the club reciprocate.. i.e. would they pay us if the team played as crap as they did today. Even the first half was nonplus. gotta worry about the future of MFC.

I would like to thank the club for their in initiative yesterday with the reduced entrance fee. I believe it was the right thing to do and with better results leading up to it I think they could have reached that break even total they required. We could have (and should have ) been on a run of 3 wins going into that match. I hope the loss was not too great and personally believe that the attendance of 336 was pretty good considering the recent results and the weather. It could easily have been around the 200-250 mark. I would hope that the loss was not too great and may have been bolstered by people spending more in the ground. I certainly made sure that I spent my normal entrance fee on extra 50/50 and meat raffle tickets etc. If everyone did the same then hopefully that cushioned the loss. It would be great to see this again later in the season when we have put a few good results together and maybe pushing for the play-offs!!!

Whilst financially its not really viable-if the club could find a way to do the same for the hendon game-that i'm sure would go down very well-and everyone would see the club is 'trying'.

Notoriously bad attendances on sat. before Xmas-may just help-though still a lost leader.

Maybe £6 admission with a optional 'contribution' box beside it.

How widely was the £6 entrance fee advertised though?. It was on the website, but isn't that preaching to the converted? Plus anyone looking to take in a local game yesterday would have gone to Dover. Ultimately Hartsdown is a bleak, bleak ground in winter so I suspect this kind of thing would only work when the weather is decent.

I think advertising costs money CE so it would have been a bigger financial loss .

However-if there is to be a 'next time' ,maybe on the seperate 'ideas' thread-ideas of how to advertise (without cost ) any extra concessions to a wider audience could be posted.

Maybe via specialposters in various clubs and where goalden gate tickets are sold ?

If the club are prepared to write-off a thousand quid or so on gate money I'm not sure that an extra couple of hundred quid on an ad in the local paper would make much difference. Still, like I said no point repeating this while the weather is poor.

The reduced admission prices were featured in the local press (Gazette/Times and KM) plus on their and other news websites too. It was also featured on other non-league websites. Good point though about the Superdraw retailers, I'll follow that up.

We are also currently running with a leaflet campaign to increase awareness of the club across Thanet.

Here's an idea.

Family ticket £12 (1 adult 2 children) flyer sent to all Sunday League Clubs and Youth Football Clubs including half price entrance to main stand. Thanet Colts has over 9 youth teams. That could be over 100 parents to tap into. Margate FC youth have over 10 teams thats another 100 plus parents!!! 2 of Margate's biggest youth football clubs, possibly future players!!!

The Thanet Sunday Football league has 1384 players registered to various teams throughout Thanet. Thats 1384 players to tap in to.

These parents and Sunday league players will see a cheap afternoon out with there children for just £12. The kids will want to eat sweets and chips, drink pop and tea etc. Thats more cash going to the club!!! In fact don't stop there. Put a flyer in the local paper too.

If I can get people in a small village like Minster interested in there local small park football club, then I'm sure those that Market Margate FC can do it

Up the gate!!!
