Enfield Town 2 London APSA 1

Recommended Posts

After the Lord Mayors show of Saturday the players had to get back down to earth, which I'm sure wasn't easy.

I enjoyed the game. In the first half I thought London APSA were the better side. After they got the goal our guys panicked and nicked one back off of their luckless no.6. almost immediately.

In the second half we brought on the great Johnny Everitt who hit a screamer from about the halfway line into the net in the 70th minute. Imran Khan in goal (infact quite a few were called Imran and / or Khan) had no chance. If only Johnny could stay fit and injury free then he would be a great asset this season.

Still need a striker to get in the scoring groove though. It was a middle of the table scrap that the home team won. I think we deserved the result on the second half performance. Can this team win the league, not without some strengthening and I understand that Jim's been shopping again! So you never know!

We got the 3 points we wanted but not with the quality of Saturday.

Much agreed.

At times, we had the makings of a really special team, but then at times we looked like relegation fodder. Much of the problem with the passing is down to the pitch (with no disrespect to our groundsmen) as it is extremely difficult to play the ball along the floor.

Some of our movement and crossing was superb, but again it is the simple mistakes which are causing us the most problems. All in all, it was a good hardworking performance, but we still definitely need improving.

London ASPA look like a decent team, and I certainly expect them to finish quite well in this league.

Oh...and WHAT a goal that was. The best goal I have ever seen at ETFC. <img src="/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I can't say I was particualarly impressed with our performance. There were some shades of excellence but on the whole it wasn't great. Fenn was constantly made to look a mug by Apsa's forwards and on the balance Apsa deserved to come away with a point. We desperately need someone up front to partner Ulatowski. I am sorry to say but Acquah is just not good enough. If we don't strengthen the team then we will not win the league.

On a positive note, Dave Allen looked good and what a great goal from John Everitt.

I must also congratulate all the officials. They let the game flow and the two stand in linos did well, even if one wanted to dissallow our second goal.

London APSA looked a good young team and if they can keep together they will go from strength to strength. I was also impressed with the way in which they conducted temselves on the pitch and thoroughly deserved their round of applause at the end. Good luck to them for the rest of the season.

Norm; it was near to the 25/30 yard mark; but still a peach of a goal.

you need to get out from behind that goal and watch it from the halfway line.

I thought APSA passed the ball well(especially on our surface),they also looked quick and skillfull.

But i can't see them getting out of the bottom half, this season.....I feel(at the moment)they are too lightweight....Town,not renowned as overly aggresive, were dominating pysically....just imaging what will happen to them against the more 'Neanderthal' sides in this league.

On town's performance, well, we still havn't found a good partership up front,Ulatowski has dissapointed so far this season....I beleive he is more of a 'six-yard box' paocher, rather than a leader of the line, and i'm not sure that Grant or Miller, would fill that roll of leading the line either...we'll see.

theres plenty of competion for midfield places at the moment, and feel we are plenty strong enough in that department.

The defence is(slowly)getting back it's solidity of last season.

Now on to 'Fenn'....I want to like him....He's got all the attributes of a good defender, and he seems a great character with a top attitude...BUT..from the evidence so far, he's no bloody good.

Changing subject....Unless the perimeter fencing is secured,quick-smartish,the pitch-fencing will be demolished by the little idoits who TRESSPASS on the Goldsdown....even yesturday, i spotted numourous dents and bashes on the fencing...also the kids that train outside the fencing seem to be in the habit of smashing footballs against it...the sad fact is, they(the tresspassers) don't even have to try hard to gain access, there's a big part of the fence missing in the corner, near where the piles of dirt are.

1. we/Brimsdown must: Fix all holes in the fencing and re-inforce the top with barbed-wire.

2.We/Brimsdown must: Put up 'Tresspassers will be prosecuted' signs, along the length of the perimeter fencing, and also..'do not hit footballs against this fence' signs along the pitch fence.

Sadly i feel we may be onto a loseing battle...I dread to think what will happen to the main stand ,once its built.

We either need to get Clarkie back up front or get a suitable replacement. The Acqah brothers have had their chance but simply aren't up to it. Grant looks like he's got a bit more about him, but still hasn't overly impressed. Ulatowski still looks a bit light-weight. Lets hope Jim's got something up his sleeve or we'll be lucky to finish top 3. Don't forget, we'll be losing Matt Negus for a large part of the season due to university and Brad Brotherton's got a substantial ban to serve at some point.

I really can't see the new fence lasting more than another couple of months. It's obviously being pelted with stones and is already starting to look the worse for wear!
