Fit or Unfit - doesnt matter, will still play

Twist&Shout

Recommended Posts

Just got home from the game and speaking to a few people, it seemed that they we were all wondering if welford and saunders were actually match fit..??

Now obviously we can only speculate, and IOC knows his team best but it seems that some players get played simply cos of their status and who they are..

I was not at croydon so can only make my judgement on the sutton game, but Grant played a blinder against sutton on that wing, so much went through him..

Curtis has looked dodgy for the last few games..cloke should of started instead of him in my opinion..

Obviously its up to Iain what he does and he knows his team best but its just frustrating

Realistically before last nights game we had a squad of 12 outfield players + 1 goalkeeper. However, after his peformance last night Kane has now made this a squad of 13 outfield players.

Therein lies the problem for Iain who to play and where (even if they are not fit).

Oh! to be a manager.

So if Welford and Saunders are not match fit, how else do they get match fit apart from actually playing?

We have a small squad so IoC does not really have much room to manoeurve.

training matches, coming on in reserve matches, starting reserve matches, being left on the bench and bought on for the last 15 mins of a game, then the last 30 mins, then starting games and lasting 70 mins, theres plenty of options isnt there!!

I thought Welford had a pretty decent game (apart from the Kamara look-a like penalty that is), all things considered. Jay Saunders however played well below what we expect of him & what we normally see from him.

James Pinnock stood out for me & he gets my M.O.T.M award on an individual basis (if there is indeed going to be one).

The team performance as a unit was extremely poor. Lots of effort but too many errors & lacking ideas.

Strange, he manoeurvered well against Sutton without them not so well against Croyden with them. Just the way it is I suppose.

So you'd stick two of our best players, including our main goalscorer, in the reserves. As Sir Humphrey used to say: "That's very brave of you minister."

The starting line-ups in both those games were identical.

Just goes to prove the players are less than consistent, I feel sorry for the manager who must be more frustrated than we are.

I would on the basis of being 'still injured' or 'not match fit'

Just 1 game reserves, half a game in first team as well as training matches therefore not to rush them back..we don't ok against sutton at home without them

frustrating for us lot god knows how IO'C feels (who be a boss)? Ok a few bad results not critical just yet and mid table or better still possible with loads of games to go in this campaign. With a small squad due to budget restraints and not that many options on the bench to change things the starting 11 do need to 'turn it on' as a unit, not just relying on one or two to perform. As has been said a bad spell which a lot of teams go through during a season and also feel results will come!

Before Shaun got injured he had got his match fitness was scoring goals for fun . The rest of the team followed suit Shaun got injured we missed him and the rest of the lads missed him . Unfortunately our team looks to be built around Shaun and when the big guys not there neither are the rest , sad to say but they need to learn quick to play and learn to have faith and take note of the way they played against Sutton .

We need to tempt Rob Harwoth to come back when he is at Hartsdown on Sat . That little bit more fire power up front will give the players more options and help them to bring out there best football in them . MAy have to lose 2-3 player though to gain someone like Rob as we know the budget is a big prob .

Welford and Rob up front with Pinns behind them will be a treat .
