Chessington & Hook 6-4 Dorking.

 

Where to start? An Alan Hansen masterclass in defending from both sides (not), great attacking at times by both teams. Former Chick Dan 'Ronaldo' Bennett bagging 4 goals for C&H and could have had 7 or 8 but for his showboating (no change there then!).

 

First half and both sides looked like they would score every time they went forward, with each defence looking shambolic. Chicks raced into a surprise 4-1 lead including a great opener, before the hosts pulled it back to 4-3 by the interval (some of the crowd had lost count by this stage!).

 

Second half and whilst C&H continued to attack as in the first half, Chicks attacking had all but fizzled out to the odd counter attack so with the first half defensive displays continuing this meant only one thing - how many would C&H get? They had soon got it back to 4-4 and took the lead shortly after with Bennett causing havoc every time he ran at the Chicks backline. C&H's fifth was a wonderful mazy run into the box and finish from Bennett. 13 minutes from the end he got his 4th and the home side's 6th to make the game safe. 2 minutes from the end, Bennett was felled in the box and stepped up to take the penalty himself. The showboating was to continue as he tried to chip McBride, but the ball crashed against the bar only for Bennett to head in the rebound. He couldn't understand why the goal was disallowed!

 

Not quite sure what the ref's assessor made of it all!

 

I haven't looked, but I expect it ruined the score predictor game for one or two of you ;)

Strange game didnt feel like a cup quarter final, Hayes Gate turned up with 11 and what looked like one of there Dads in goal and after 5 minutes was down to 10 when there striker pulled up with a hamstring injury. But it was the away side that took the lead inside 10 minute when Guscott turned into his own net for the second game running. Park equalised 5 minutes later and from then on was only going to be one winner. Expect a much tougher game against them on Saturday away.

Has Guscott hit a bit of bad form or just forgotten which team he is playing for. Lol

 

 

All them years playing along side a local legend and he's not learnt which way his shooting. :smilewinkgrin:

what is going on with the gate? , they have a different team every week , 11 men ONLY last night , then in some games they get great results, not being rude but in this level you should not be going with 11 men (i understand work commitments) , a shame as have players like o'toole and fermie who are quality at this level

heard there manager left so imagine some players left , according to mitoo - top scorer in div 1 L EDGHILL ( was at staines lammas) states he is now with hayes gate , can any one confirm that , seems a strange move ?

The bloke in charge of them last night before the game was moaning about injuries/ suspensions and saying that it was a stitch up having to play us midweek?!?! (didnt get that part?). Saying that found Hayes Gate a good bunch and got some decent players, but like you say you cant turn up with 11 at this level.

Dont know them but im pretty sure Barrance and Fermie played, Barrance (big lad, good touch centre mid?) Fermie ( captain, stocky, not much on top? )

Dont know them but im pretty sure Barrance and Fermie played, Barrance (big lad, good touch centre mid?) Fermie ( captain, stocky, not much on top? )

 

see i was under the impression barrance was a forward and there playing him centre mid? but i suppose with 11 men , he was lucky not to be at centre back l, if o'toole is there it is a waste
