Hatfield will be travelling to Cranfield for the more important Challenge Trophy fixture. Perhaps not a bad idea to postpone the Charity Shield game in view of the "headbutting" incident from last Saturday!

back to Monday nights at Binfield and they have another scheduled early in December too (vs Wantage in the Hellenic Floodlit I think). Were a few other choices around Monday but I didn't fancy dashing out too early, so left it until about 19:15 before zipping down the A329(M) for this - mercifully not much traffic.

 

Match: Wanted to see why Ch St P were 100% in the league and found out. Binfield gave it a real go 1st half and put their vistors firmly on the back foot - with high line and higher tempo - Ian Davies was a real handful and it was no real surprise to see The Moles get a two goal lead midway through the half.

However the warning signs were there - lots of near misses and the Home back four were being pulled around and out of position. Binfield keeper was in inspired form but they shipped two quick goals just before the break - both free headers from (Terrell) Lewis close in @ corners (Strutton may have been rested - unused sub?)

3rd and decisive goal midway through 2nd half - fast break down the right by Lewis - crossed to back of the box and the ball was driven firmly back across the keeper to the bottom corner.

Binfield strived for a leveller but they never really managed a clear chance.

 

Following tonight's 9 goal thriller @ Holmer G - Chalfont St P's opponents in the Quarters will be Sandhurst Town - 'Fizzers' are hosts for the tie due to be played by end Jan 2011.
