Rebels v AFC Hayes

Ian

Recommended Posts

Finished 5-0

Starting team: Jacko, Murphy, Seeby, Perkins, Sweeney, Swift, Logie, Coyne, Herron, Martin, Abbey.

First goal by Abbey, Second by Martin, Third by Swift, Fourth by Logie, Fifth by Burnell. Well i think it was in that order.

Solid performance all round, no one had a bad game at all. Very hard to pick a man of the match as there were a few contenders but i think Murphy just edged it.

Jacko didnt have much to do but when he did he looked comfortable and dealt with it well.

Abbey cam off after 17 minute replaced by Burnell, Swift came off after about an hour replaced by Bateman and Martin came off with about 10 minutes left replaced by Sippetts.

This win brings us back up the table a little more and hopefully it is a continuation of possible unbeaten run.

5 goals, 5 different scorers (Abbey, Martin, Swift, Logie and Burnell) and a clean sheet, not a bad night really! We played well again, took our chances and defended very well to keep them to just one or two long range shots.

Some big games to come in the league so these 2 wins will help with the confidence, well done Rebels!

Couldnt get to this match so cant comment but any other result against a tean pointless away from home all season would have been a surprise. Because of the way other games panned out we are 10th in the league. Our opponents next Saturday , Aylesbury, although higher than us in the table have a poor home record. Indeed no team in the league has won fewer home games this season so I think we must fancy our chances for this one. Another win and we will begin to make inroads to the play-off places.

a good solid team performance tonight , i think murphy had one of his better games but not quite worthy of man of the match if there is any justice then that honour will go to coyne his performance was just awsome tonight he was all over the park closing players down great passing and forsight setting up many amove on hayes goal, lets just hope that we can keep this up.

game we should have won and we did though it took a thoroughly professional and hard working performance to get us a 5-0 win. considering how low we was a week ago any win would have done wonders for our confidence but such a strong 5-0 really should set us nicely going into some fairly tough games

no one did badly but a few standouts for me were Logie, Martin again and Coyne who seemed to win the ball every time he challenged for it. we have definitely been missing Logie and now he is back it seems to have lifted a few others work rate

good to see that the team finally look like a united unit. team huddles before the start of halves show togetherness and its good to see pretty much every player celebrating goals together. we are looking more and more like a team rather than individuals at last. fair play to the management for whatever they have done as its a clear improvement

FINALLY A CLEAN SHEET AS WELL!!!! :waytogo: although Hayes have a terrible away record it was a good sign that Jacko barely did a thing all game. the whole team defended well from the front and we hassled and hurried much better

well done guys lets hope this can keep going

Yes well done rebels! I was not there but think that these two wins will set us up nicely to now face two big games in the league. I think 4 points from these two games and we will be well on our way back into the playoff hunt

Have to say that martin has now got two goals in two games and seems to be playing really well alongside abbey and burnell. Think we have a genius strikeforce now he is on form as we can hold the ball upfront and also bring others into play. It allows us to take our time when in the final third and get it right.

Also well done to the management. You said you would turn it round and your well on your way to doing so. Keep up the good work

Well done Rebels. A thoroughly professional performance against a somewhat limited side. But it is those sort of games that you want to control and win comfortably and that is exactly what we did.

I thought Simon Martin was excellent again on a night when everyone seemed to contribute. Five different scorers, an excellent defensive performance and Coyne and Herron look to be in top form.

I can't make Saturday but let's hope we can now build on this - come on you Rebels.

Aylesbury's ganna be a difficult game Saturday. They are quite well organised, but were not that spectacular when I saw them against Burnham with most of their danger coming from down the left with Ryan Blake.

Will be a tougher match than the last two as i'd expect Aylesbury to be around the play-offs/top 10, but should we play to our best, not let our heads drop if we suffer a setback like we did Saturday then were more than capable of winning the match.

Last night second-half thought we were good (although lets be honest, Hayes were very poor) but you can only beat what is in front of you and credit to the team , we did that well. We seem more together as a side the last two matches. I like the everyone celebrating a goal thing were doing and also the huddles before and and half-time - shows togetherness. Seems to be less moaning with each other as well.

What two wins, eight goals and a clean sheet and guess what no comments from Nathan and yes he was a North Greenford. maybe his computer has broken or maybe he is plucking up courage to come on here and apologize to the management and players for his comments.....

To the White Horse Rebels, are you going to The Hop Pole before the game and taking David?

We shouldnt be thinking of anything but a victory against Aylesbury. No team in the league has won fewer home games. Theyve been beaten by Bedworth and Ashford, couldnt score against North Greenford and could only draw with Beaconsfield. We really do now have to put together a string of wins if we are to have any hope of the play-offs. After 15 games last season we had 31 points After 15games this season we have 22. We lost 11 games in the whole of last se;ason and have lost 7 already this and a disproportionate number of the games already played have been against teams lower down in the league. A lot of the tougher games lie ahead and nothing less than maximum effort and concentration will do.
