Hendon game off

Guess who got all the way to the ground??????? I broke the golden rule - always check the game is on!

How it was called off for fog baffles me as it was clear as a bell when i got there.... i didn't exactly have to fight my way through a pea-souper from the tube station. All the other local games were on.

Nevermind as worse things happen....at least it wasn't the first Lowestoft "game" last season which i know some people went to

I am astounded. I was not going to Wembley as I had a meeting in Uxbridge yesterday evening. My meeting was at 6:00 and when I left at 7:30 the skys were clear. I cannot understand a ref calling the game off for fog at 6:30 over an hour before scheduled kick off and the forecast is for clearing skies.

This is too silly.

Apparently when the Ref called the Game off it was really Foggy and you could not see from one end of the Pitch to the other. Sensible call I think, how would fans have felt having travelled to the Ground, 20 - 30 mins played then game abandoned :brille008: :futbolbud2:

As a sailor I know that fog is unpredictable. It can be dense in one area but clear only twenty yards away. Likewise it can be dense one minute but clear five minutes later. The forecast was for clearing skies and as such the ref should not have called the game off but waited to see if it cleared.

It is obvious, as Andy says, that if the ref cant see the linos from the middle of the pitch then the game should be abandoned but that is at 7:45 not 6:30. Even if the game is stopped because of fog it is reasonable to wait 20 mins or so to see if it will clear. After all that is the procedure for floodlight failure or pitch invasion.

I dont believe the ref wanted to ref the game on a cold wet night.
