The pitch at South Park was only just playable through the middle on Saturday. The torrential rain we had on Sunday made things even worse and the groundsman has been unable to get on the central areas of the pitch to repair the damage. Added to this there is still some water on these areas.

The referee who carried out the inspection this morning confirmed the pitch was unfit for play.

Could have at least left it until 4pm give it a chance to go ahead! I wonder if the two players who got injured on Saturday were ok?

In fairness DT, the fog we are getting is not helping the pitches. I took our youth training last night and the fog is keeping our pitch quite wet and there is no chance for it to dry out. Any game last night would have been played at Molesey without too much problem, although one goalmouth was particularly wet, and it is getting no drier today. If pitches took a battering on Saturday and had heavy rain Sunday, it is possible that they will not recover for tonight. I am not sure what it is like where you are, but In Ashford Middx it is almost impossible to see your way through the fog and I cannot see how any improvement would be likely - if a local pitch was deemed unfit now, it has little chance of it drying out for tonight if the fog stays around as long as they forecast. I would rather know now if our game at Whyteleafe was off, rather than wait until 4pm and then have to start contacting a squad of 16 plus the coaching staff. I just hope we get to play our game this evening, as we are really looking forward to it.

If the referee who inspected the pitch had said the pitch was playable we would have been more than happy to play. However the fact that there is still water on the pitch and when you walk through this area it brings more water up and in his opinion the pitch would not be playable tonight.

Chris

I did not realise that we had hired the pitch out tomorrow, but I assume it will be down to the weather again.

As far as the CWU cup game goes, this is scheduled for next week and I understand this is being sorted out by our secretary this week - either Monday or Wednesday I believe.

Duncs

Not a lot of wind here at the moment and it is getting worse if anything - I can hardly see the keyboard now!!!!!!!!

TC

What months are the "fog months"???? Maybe a bell in the ball as well, like the betting advert - just remember to leave the cat at home

Apologies for the joint responses - credit crunch and all that so keeping costs down!
