Referees Again

Recommended Posts

I don't normally comment on individual matches and especialy referees but yesterday Vase game has driven me, even if only for my benefit, to post.

First and foremost the referee is no excuse for us losing. We should have won the game and underperformed. The hard fought win at Sandhurst a few weeks ago took its toll as we had two key players missing through suspensions again we argue due to a very poor referee that night. Moneyfields took their limited chances, we didn't take enough out of a lot of possesion and chose to pick this important match to have too many players play poorly. However we weren't helped by just about everything important going against us and one of the most outrageous decisions I have ever seen-who has ever seen a referee ever being pushed two hands directly into the chest in an agressive manner and not send the player off?!! Amazingly he claimed afterwards that he missed it yet how does he explain that he yellow carded the individual?! It was the most obvious sending off ever and with 30 odd minutes left and us in control chasing the equalizer who knows what would have happened?

This ref and linesman had no control throughout and started the day by lecturing the teams match day secretaries to a ridiculous level. Then they ignore the minutes silence. Then in the first five minutes they give us a goal kick after a massive deflection should have led to a very obvious Moneyfields corner. Both sets of players quickly realised how poor they were but Moneyfields are a much more experienced team than us and used it much better by basically getting every decision there way sometimes by appealing a least a couple of seconds after a incident. Moneyfields time wasting was unbelievable and the ref only once near the very end even waved at them to hurry up. As we shouted at the ref to add on time he came over to me and when questioned stated 'you would do the same!' So Bloody what, yes we would but then he needs to deal with it as he clearly knew it was going on! He finished his performance by refusing to tell us how long was left despite me asking him numerous times. He walked over and said '3' yet there was still over 15 minutes left?! I said I didn't understand and he just shrugged his shoulders and ran away! The reality was that he left himself completely open to abuse including from me and I lost it and he could easily have sent me off but he didnt have it in him at all. At this stage we had played the last 15 minutes with only really nine men as had one off with a dislocated knee and one playing but hardly moving with all three subs on. He was a complete joke and his lack of discipline and ability to send off the Moneyfields player left the game in almost dissaray. It was a credit to both teams that it probably didnt look that bad to spectators. After the final whistle I told him what I thought and commented on how he hadn't sent that player off and he said absolutely nothing. His senior linesman took me aside and apologised and stated he could not overuled the ref on the 'sending off incident' which obviously he couldnt. To make it worse the supporters that were directly in line for their winner told me the striker was at least two yards off just to rub salt into the woulds and this was confirmed by the Moneyfields official in the boardroom.

The Refs were from another county so it is not just our League that is having a tough time. I accept we all make mistakes, me many, but yestrdays were not up to a big FA Vase game. Would it have made a difference to the result, maybe?-we will never know. Bottom line I am totally gutted and we have missed a great opportunity this season. We didn't play well enough and good luck to Moneyfields who showed experience counts for a lot and were a decent bunch on and off the field.

I end with the shocking news that the Referee was 'attacked' after the game in the carpark. I absolutely do not agree with this behaviour and it has no place in football or any society. It is in the hands of the authorities and I sincerly apologize on behalf of everyone at CTFC if this is proved true

I agree it looked worse from a dugout as from my view I saw two hand push on ref- it clearly was not as bad as I thought but the fact that he did push the ref with two hands is more than enough for a red as Krooner agrees-hands on the ref is a no go, he starts with one hand and then pushes the ref with both hands-you can see the reaction of his own players that from our view it was still ridiculous, its a shame we dont have more cameras at games!

Thanks again TRS, just wish we couldn't put on a better showing for you to film

CHERTSEYTOWN, I HAD A GOOD LOOK AT TRS FILMAGE AND IT'S NO WAY AS YOU SUGGEST.

I THINK YOU ARE CLUTCHING AT STRAWS AND INSTEAD OF MOANING ABOUT ''THE'' INCIDENT, STOP MAKING EXCUSES 'COS YOU LOST AND THAT YOU WANTED TO BEAT 10 MEN INSTEAD OF 11..........WOW WHAT BIG BOYS WE ARE.

YOU SAY THE REF SHOULD HAVE SENT YOU OFF. THAT'S BEING A GREAT EXAMPLE TO YOUR PLAYERS, BUT THEN AGAIN IT DOESN'T MATTER TO YOU IF HE HAD SENT YOU OFF IT'S ONLY A FINE WHICH IS ONLY SMALL CHANGE TO YOU..............SO INSTEAD OF SLAGGING THE REF YOU SHOULD BE GRATEFUL TO HIM FOR SAVING YOU A FINE AND A BAN NO DOUBT TO BOOT..

I SUGGEST YOU HAVE A LOOK AT YOUR OWN BIG TIME CHARLIES FIRST, AND ASK THEM WHY YOU LOST ! POOR MARKING FOR THE FIRST GOAL AND 'KEEPERS MISTAKE FOR THE SECOND.......... OOPS I'VE DONE YOUR JOB FOR YOU !

GROW-UP OH THE ALMIGHTY CHERTSEY EGO .....ALSO BLAME A GAME AGAINST SANDHURST A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO IS PATHETIC, GET REAL YOU LOST SO JUST TAKE IT ON THE CHIN, GET OVER IT AND CONCENTRATE ON YOUR NEXT GAME, YOUR TEAM IS NOT THE ONLY ONES WHO SUFFERS FROM SUSPENSIONS AND INJURIES YOU KNOW.

''WELL DONE MONEYFIELDS GOOD LUCK THE NEXT ROUND'', THAT'S WHAT YOU SHOULD BE SAYING CHERTSEYTOWN !

Have to say if that had been in the Premier League, I think the red would've been flashed. However, I wasn't surprised he didn't do it as the refs at this level seem to put up with more. (No idea what caused all that fuss anyhow?).

Moneyfields were time wasting second half, going down like they'd been shot but sadly it happens all the time and refs rarely seem to clamp down on it. To be honest i've seen worse performances from officials, so can't think what could've caused him to be (allegedly) attacked afterwards - not that anything justifies such behaviour anyway.

Chertsey had enough chances to win it, but just one of those frustrating days. Might find Chertsey look back on this result in a few months and realise maybe not such a bad thing as all efforts can now go onto the League campaign, whilst Guildford stay in the Vase with the potential for a fixture pile-up.....

CT I watched the Egham game yesterday and your officials looked like pros in comparison. The cost of paying for the travelling team I think is a joke.....The fact that the ref cost Egham any prise money was an even bigger joke... and I have to say, and I dont often moan abour refs..... The standard I have seen when watching a CCL game this year has gone downhill....We all need to sign up with Mr Tony Pulis.....

I dont think it is a coincidence that they perform badly at the bigger grounds like Molesey, Camberley, Chertsey, Egham etc. They just seem to either bottle it or want to be the centre of attention especially in front of bigger attendances. I also think assessors make it worse as the young refs just seem to be under too much pressure. It seems to be much worse this season and there must be some reason. We heard from our contacts at Egham that there had been a nightmare there too. Bring back the more experienced refs for me, too many of them seem to be sidelined to linesman so that younger refs can be fast tracked but by judging forums like this, it isn't working.

Saying that I am in a foul mood after yesterdays performance and we have had some excellent refs this season too, we just need more consistancy. In a one up league and FA competitions a lot is at stake......

Niceguy-you only ever critize on here-so he didnt put his hands on the ref and push him?!!!

And learn to read as my first comment was that it wasnt an excuse and my last was to wish Monefields well

Now pi.. off and watch X Factor or whatever and find critisim in that too.....

IF YOU READ MY COMMENTS, I'M NOT DISAGREEING WITH YOUR COMMENTS ABOUT MANHANDLING A REFEREE, ALL I'M SAYING IS THAT IT DOES NOT SEEM AS BAD AS YOU SUGGESTED FROM TRS FILMAGE.

MY SUGGESTION WAS WHY GO ON ABOUT A REFEREE, HE MAKES THE CHOICE RIGHT OR WRONGLY. THINK ABOUT IT, HE'S SAVED YOU A FINE AND BEING BANNED FROM THE TOUCHLINE. WHAT YOU SHOULD BE MORE CONCERNED WITH IS WHY YOU LOST AND STOP WISHING YOU COULD BE PLAYING AGAINST 10 MEN TO GET A BETTER CHANCE OF WINNING........... SAD !

LOOK AT YOUR TEAMS PERFORMANCE BEFORE WHINGING ON...SO ANYWAY, DID YOU THINK AIDEN SHOULD HAVE GONE OR YOU STILL CRYING AFTER YESTERDAYS DEFEAT ?

TIME WASTEING WOULD HAVE BEEN DONE BY MAJORITY OF THE TEAMS IN MONEYFIELDS SITUATION, SO ARE CHERTSEY SO PURE THAT THEY WOULDN'T DO IT, BEHAVE IT'S PART OF THE GAME WHETHER PEOPLE LIKE IT OR NOT..... IF CHERTSEY WAS WINNING, THEY WOULD HURRY UP WITH GOALKICKS, THROW-ONS, CORNERS ETC., I DON'T THINK SO !

I'M NOT CRITIZING, ITS A FORUM WITH PEOPLES OPINIONS, IF YOU DON'T WANT TO HEAR MY OPINION DON'T READ IT, IF THE TRUTH HURTS ....

BY THE WAY, WAS THAT ''MONEFIELDS'' VERY APT CHERTSEYTOWN... HA... HA ....HA CHIN UP !!!

I have said it before that the FA seem too keen to fast track referees and too often many of them are not up to the standard and yes there are better referees doing lines each week rather than middles.

Saying that, the referee doing the Chertsey game didn't look like he was new on the block.

Agree with that TC. But it actually woldnt matter because in the majority of cases it is just easier to blame someone else than accept your own shortcomings. Actually thought Tony Pulis was right re promotion/relegation of referees. If only there were enough at this level to do that.

Preposterous theory CT -refs acting up at bigger grounds. Lumping all those clubs in together isn't fair as well. Camberley generally fairly easy on refs. At Egham this season I saw a ref fairly resistant to the tirade of moaning from all sides of the ground - he gave us an away penalty .Also having a bunch of vocal supporters didn't help Molesey at our place .

There are clubs in this league who systematically work referees from the pitch and from the bench to influence their decisions and one of my frustrations this season is that for some of them it sems to work . Particularly the vocal benches but for some of those clubs there's either hardly any crowd there or they are a very long way fromn the pitch .

It's an old hobby horse of mine but we all have a responsibility for the atmosphere games are conducted in . Whilst the ref probably should have sent the Moneyfields player off we all see at the top level refs not applying the respect thing e.g everyone go away apart from Rio . If he'd sent one of your players off you'd be on here moaning about it. I'm sure ther was also someone who missed a chance or made a mistake at the back as well in your game - if not then maybe just maybe Moneyfields deserved to beat you .

I'lljust reiterate how good our ref was yesterday and how refreshing it was to see a game conducted in a good spirit without tweams and benches working the ref for all they were worth. Refs are human beings and are more likely to make mistakes when everyones on their case all the time ... What are you like on the bench ??

I'VE SEEN CHERTSEY A FEW TIMES THIS SEASON ,THE ANSWER IS - NOT THAT GOODA BOY-

HERE, HERE I REALLY DO LIKE YOU EEFC SUPPORTER YOUR COMMENTS ARE HONEST JUST LIKE TUCKS WHEN HE SAID THEY DIDN'T DESERVE TO WIN ON SATURDAY, IT'S JUST ONE OF THOSE THINGS.

YOUR COMMENTS WERE EXACTLY WHAT I WAS GETTING AT. STOP LOOKING AT OTHERS TO MAKE EXCUSES FOR THEIR OWN FAILINGS. I WAS THERE ALONG WITH SMUDGE AT TYOUR GAME AGAINST MOLESEY. WHICH IN FAIRNESS BY YOUR OWN ADMISSION MOLESEY DESERVED TO WIN.

YOU COULD SEE MANAGER50 FELT HARD DONE BY AT THE END OF THE GAME WITH 1 POSSIBLY 2 DUBIOUS PENALTIES WHERE HE PROBABLY FELT CHEATED OUT OF 3 POINTS AND AS SUCH AIRED OFF HIS FRUSTRATIONS TOP THE REF WHICH WAS INEXCUSABLE, BUT ITS THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT. MANAGERS DO THEIR BEST, AS THEY ALL WANT TO WIN AND SOMETIMES WHEN DECISIONS DON'T GO THE WAY YOU THINK THEY SHOULD YOU GET FRUSTRATED THAT'S NORMAL. LIKE REFS , PLAYERS AND MANAGERS ALIKE THEY ALL MAKE MISTAKES THATS LIFE IM AFRAID FOLKS.

ONE THING WE SHOULD ALWAYS REMEMBER, LOOK AT YOUR OWN FAILINGS BEFORE ACCUSING, BECAUSE YOU WILL NOTE THAT THE MAJORITY OF THE TEAMS THAT LOSE MAINLY COMPLAIN ABOUT THE REF - WHAT'S THAT SAYING NOW ? OH YES, ''NO REF, NO GAME'

Must admit the refs in the Zamaretto are usually very good.

The worrying thing about TRS's clip is that the player looked like he might just do more than just push the official, given the chance (well done his team-mates), makes you wonder if a referee will suffer worse in future at his disrespectful hands...
