Windsor v Banbury

Even though we had quite a few chances to score yesterday i thought we were pretty poor! Was disappionted with Robinson up front he was pretty static and didn't make the runs into the channels and the midfield seemed to lose the battle for a majority of the match. The two good away points at Chippenham and Cambridge have now been lost i feel with two points dropped yesterday. We really do need to turn some of these draws into wins thats 5 on the trot! Anyone know whats happened to Jeff Brown is he injured?

I was disappointed by the performance but really disappointed by the crowd. I was hoping with all the hard work people have been putting in to promote the fixture that we would have 300-400 people there. If the club come out the other side of our cuurent financial issues, we need to continue to grow the fanbase to ensure we have a viable club .

The match I felt wasn't great but wasn't poor, we looked a good side in the second half. I also liked the look of Robbinson, Chenns would have scored all of those chances on an other day. But it just didn't happen for him, one of those games I guess!

I was disappointed with the Banbury fans during the game. The comments made to Windsor fans pre game about the finances was rather unsporting. Their fans abuse of the Windsor management throughout the game was rude and aggressive. Especially when we are one of the clubs promoting the "Mind your Language Campaign". But most of all I was disappointed to see that at the end of the game, having achieved the score draw they had clearly came for their fans committed criminal damage at the town end of the ground by pulling the advertising boards off the fence and throwing them onto the pitch. Shame on them, a clear discredit to Banbury FC.

This wasn't all of the Banbury fans. Which has been demonstrated on their message board. Some of their fans commented that their own had over stepped the mark with their choice of language and remarks!

Hmm, I thought Robinson was clearly the best footballer on the pitch, creating space for others and with a vision and touch that was ahead of anything else on display. But then it'd be daft to expect anything less with his background.

But quite obviously the guy isn't fit and couldn't make the runs and last more than 20 minutes. Shame because somebody with his ability would create loads for Chennells if he could keep up with him!

Thought yesterdays game was ok. Made plently of chances just needed to put them in. Some days they go in some days they don't.

Plus think of it as another point gained surely we will take any at the moment even if we are drawing a lot.

As for Robinson he is playing for us to get fit. So yes he is not fit yet. Thought he was great on the ball and his eye for goal is good. Give him a few games to get fit and I think he will be a good asset to the club.

When you say comments pre game i assume you mean banter!!,as for unsporting,do you not regard winning promotion last season using finances you clearly could not afford as unsporting to the other clubs in that league, who like Banbury United only spend what they can afford!!!!!!,as for your manager, did he not discredit your club by reacting to a bit of winding up by his threatening and aggressive behaviour?????,the phrase pots and kettles comes to mind!,also your plastic advertising banner just came apart from the fence, yes a couple of our fans helped it on it's way to the ground, but hardly criminal damage!!!, admit some of the language was a bit too blue at times,no excuse but alcohol to blame!!, i am affraid that you have to face the reality that in this league you are a very small fish in a big pond!!,you will get more away support from some clubs than you are used to and have to learn to deal with it!!,Banbury Fans are very vocal and passionate supporting their team!!,something with respect you lack!,also it is obvious that the people running your club have been reckless with finances and seem totally incompetent!!!,if you as fans support this then you are just as much to blame for the mess your club is in as they are!!!, don't start bleating when opposition fans of " WELL RUN" clubs give you stick about your self inflicted financial problems!!,you will get little sympathy, and to be honest it is about time the Football authorities came down hard on clubs like yours!!,so when you talk about discredit, your club and others like Salisbury are a discredit to football and the majority of clubs who operate within their means!!!!!!.

Maybe you shud do some homework before you post utter crap, the manager only came to the club in may and has picked up the pieces and is well aware how bad the club has been run over many years,he has tried to bring in a new person to take the club forward, however remember what goes round comes around,as for your so called supporters ,maybe a drunken bunch of over enthusiast fans under the influence of booze would be nearer the truth, but foul and abusive language should not be tolerated,as for damage i watched from the stands and witnessed fans tearing down banners, which is unacceptable, banter is great but up to a point and as a club you should be disgraced by several fans behaviour, but anyway good luck for the rest of the season and when we come to you we will show you how away fans should react with respect for any other club, having spoken to Billy after the game he portrayed a different accent of Banbury fc,unlike several of your mindless fans, all clubs have them, sorry we don't,everywhere we have been this season our fans have been congratulated on our behaviour,if only the same applied !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Banbury Keith I had a read of your clubs history this passage was quite interesting: However, in the late 1970s, Banbury suffered huge financial problems and by 1984 the club was nearly bankrupt. The club gave up the ownership of the ground. In the 1989-90 season, Banbury were relegated for the first time in their history. The new ground owners threatened to sell and for a brief period, the club was on the verge of extinction.

So, before shouting down other clubs, when you don't know the facts, have a look back at your own history. If the football authorities came down like you say you wouldn't have a club to support. Good luck for the rest of the season.

You are all very defensive and sticking to your guns as to your distorted and grossly exaggerated view of Saturdays events!!,we had a couple of fans who had a few drinks and loosened their tongues more than usual!,the rest of us were just supporting our team and giving out normal banter!!!,"A" plastic banner dropping to the floor is hardly crime of the century but some of you continue to blow it up out of all proportion!!,also i do not see that it matters how long your manager has been at the club regarding his behaviour!!!,he was unproffessional and no better than the very small minority of our fans that you have condemned!!!,as to our clubs financial problems of the late 70's,early 80's,it was very complicated!, but it certainly did not arise from trying to finance success on the field and worring about paying for it later!!!,and since that time, a dedicated group of people, along with supporters, have built the club back to where it belongs,in many cases putting their own money into the club!!!,trying to compare our past situation with your present one is just trying to deflect from the fact that you bought success without the financial stability to pay for it!!!,and now you are relying on finding a sugar daddy to bale you out!!!!,the truth is you could not afford to get promoted, but instead of holding your hands up and going back down a level or two and rebuilding you still are trying to find a way of staying where you are,but with someone else paying for it!!!,the people who run your club should have tried to find financial backing BEFORE going for promotion!,but instead they gambled and now need financial backing to save the club!!,do you as fans agree with how things have been done or not!!!!,it's easy having a go at another club, but you need to be asking more questions in your own backyard!!!,at the end of the day you cant hide behind all the ranting and raving about the game Saturday!,the truth of the matter is that your club is in a mess of it's own making!!

Just thought that i would add that any W&E fans who travel up to Banbury for the reverse fixture will have no problems at all and will be welcomed!,but be aware our home support is very partizan and will give you more banter than you can shake a stick at!,hahaha!!!,we are a passionate lot and are very good at winding up the opposition on our home turf!!!,not bad away either!!, your manager will need to be on his best behaviour, because he is really going to get some stick from the Townend!!! :welcome:

Yawn starting to get very bored now. Your right though difficult to compare financial situations when you don't know the truth. So, when you get your facts correct then I'm sure we can all have a constructive conversation perhaps over a beer at the reverse fixture. As for 'partizan' do me a favour!! I look forward to the 'welcome to hell banners' should be entertaining will learn some Turkish for the game.

also your plastic advertising banner just came apart from the fence, yes a couple of our fans helped it on it's way to the ground, but hardly criminal damage!!!

A person who without lawful excuse destroys or damages any property belonging to another intending to destroy or damage any such property or being reckless as to whether any such property would be destroyed or damaged shall be guilty of an offence. Contrary to section 1 of the Criminal Damage Act 1971

So... Yes, the offence is complete therefore the crime of criminal damage did occur!

i am affraid that you have to face the reality that in this league you are a very small fish in a big pond!!,

Don't flatter the league mate, it's not even near the standards of big pond. We are hardly at Blue Square standards are we. Further to that I'd suggest that this league is not much better than the division one.

Big pond... you are a joker... get a grip!!!!!!!!

P.S. If you want a lesson in legislation I am happy to teach you. It's only fair as you were so quick to jump in and give us a lesson in "How to run a football club and the systematic use of finances in the BIG POND Southern Premier Division". Cheers mate...

Put your toy's back in your pram Hovis "kid"!!,you have obviously got a big chip on your shoulder!!, we at Banbury have had this sort of thing happen before!!,your team could not beat us and really should of lost!!,you were outsung on your home turf and could not deal with being wound up about your self inflicted problems!!,so you start throwing mud at our club by blatantly blowing up out of all proportion tiny incidents, purely because we hit a nerve!!,our fans are no worse than many other clubs in this league!!,you are making a mountain out of a mole hill and it will do your club no faviours in the future!!, you are coming across as arrogant!!,if you want to stick to your "fairy tale" version of Saturdays game, then so be it!!,i was honest enough to admit that a small minority over stepped the mark regarding foul language, the issue has been raised on our own forum and i'm sure it has been noted by the people involved!!,but the " criminal damage" charge is a complete joke!!,we Banbury fans know the truth, and that is all that matters!!!,if you are honest there was right and wrong on both sides!!,so i suggest that you now let it drop and we both put it down to experience!!!,look forward to seeing you all next March at the Spencer Stadium!:welcome:

Keith... Consider toys back! I don't have an dramas with fan on fan banter but I do have dramas when other fans accuse "US" collectively as over spending. I never spent the budget, I never signed any cheques, nor did the rest of the Windsor fans, nor did the management team, nor did any of the current players. Those that took the bigger wages for playing have gone, those that offered big bonuses have gone and the current chairman has paid all he has into the club. The new "sugar daddy" as it is been touted as is actually a current board member in fact the former vice chair.

I have a drama with the "small fish, big pond" theory other fans are throwing at Windsor. We are a humble club from a small town on the edge of West London who's potential following are probably watching Chelsea on Sky hence the smaller support. We have an abundance of pro teams to contend with and more semi pro teams to do the same. Windsor are currently sat mid table with a team drafted together only five or six months ago and we are all humbled by it as it is through the dedication of the management and the work ethic of this group of players.

All the teams are small fish in a small pond at this level, it annoys me to see other teams branding themselves as the big fish bossing the pond. The reality is one year team X will run away with the league but the next year they maybe looking at mid table.

I thought that it was a disappointing performance in parts against IMO a poor side with little tactics and ideas, that came looking for a point and got exactly that. The fact that Banbury only reverted from five at the back to four only whilst they were a goal behind and then packed the defence again straight after scoring, and celebrated like they had just won the league at the final whilstle spoke volumes.

Defensively, we were okay in the most part, apart from the goal equalising goal of which there were two glaring errors -1. IMO, Jake (who for me, had a poor game) was guilty of ball watching, as rather than stick with Leon who was marking their winger (David Staff who was probably their best player), he should have been pulling out wide to their substitute left back who was making the overlap. 2. Leaving the goalscorer free in the six yard box, so who was watching the front stick on the cross, or more to the point, who should have been there - Justin? Woozely?

As for the midfield, that was probably the poorest performance I'd seen from our central players. Maybe it was a case of re-adjusting to four in midfield as opposed to the regular five that Dave has played for the most part of the season, but we were pulled out of position and conceeded too much space to Banbury's midfield, who showed little ideas themselves, but got the basics right.

Up front, we showed promise, if a lack of finshing when it mattered. There's no doubt that Robinson has played at a higher level, and some of his touches, movement and awareness showed, so if he can get fit, and we can keep him for a while (to answer the question above, from speaking to Dave on Saturday, we seem to have Paul on a game by game basis, so he could play for a only a small number of games or maybe more), he could become an asset to the team (albeit short term), and will certainly help to take some of the pressure from Michael. To say it was their first game together, it didn't take them long to click together.

I can't comment on what did or didn't happen on Saturday with regards to the behaviour of Banbury's 'fans' or what Dave has been accused of saying to them, as I didn't see anything up in the press box, due to the fact that I was busy compiling my full time report (Which was rubbish IMHO. Sorry, if anyone heard it!), but all I will say in our manager's defence is that through my radio reporting gig, I've spoken to Dave on a number of occasions and whilst in the press box, I am right above the manager's boxes and can hear everything that is said, and I have never witnessed any behaviour from him or any of the coaching staff that is anything other than professional and positive. He is always a pleasure to talk to, and never anything but open and helpful.
