Went to the Egham game today .....It is easy to see why officials get bad press on here after t4he inept performance of the man in the middle and the assistant on my side of the pitch. No wonder poor old Steve has no hair left...I felt myself tugging at mine !!!!!!!

Name and shame time - Mr A Gray was the inept pillock who gave a penalty for one of the best tackles any centre half at this level is ever going to make. Seven minutes gone and facing a challenge that was always going to be hard, cos NIOW are certainly a decent side, we did have 83 minutes to do something about it but with Matt Grave out (sick) and Charlie Muldowney taken off with concussion at half time after being caught, perhaps ironically as he is a Sarnie, in a sandwich, it was made even harder by some utterly awful defending that left a man free to poke in the Islanders' second. Tom Martin went up front from centre back and reprised his wonder strike against Staines Lammas with another 20 yard wallop but nothing fell for us. Two minutes from the end the Newport No. 4, Scott Sampson being stretchered off with a suspected broken ankle. The ambulance arrived as I was driving out of the ground. At least we didn't go out playing crap but we need our forwards to start scoring regularly again.

Not really in the habit of slating officials but this guy was a complete joke. I personally think he is looking for a holiday home on the Isle Of Wight based on the decisions he gave on Saturday. In all my years of football (and thats a few) the penalty given in the firts half was the worst i have ever seen. You had to see it to belive it !

At the end of the game after their players and manager told him he got it wrong he finally admitted he had made a mistake. Bit late really as by then we were out of the competition.

Good luck to NIOW though as they were not a bad side and seemed like a decent bunch.

Thought we played very well considering players missing and the officials.

Gutted. The dream is over for another year !

Was it Alf Grey?

Not sure Chris. Never got to first name terms.

I would have preferred Alf Garnett :)
