County Cup

Recommended Posts

Can anyone out there with a bit of knowledge in Cup competitions explain how it works please?Due to Redbridge playing in the London Senior Cup on the 2nd November we rearranged this County fixture for Tuesday 16th November at Lower road moving the GB Trophy with Witham to the 23rd and postponing the Tolleshunt D'Arcy Cup with the same club. Now they e-mailed us saying that they re-arranged their League fixture with Wingate & Finchley for Tuesday 16th November and want to play on Thursday 18th.I thought the County Cup matches take priority over League games.I looked at their fixtures as well and it seems like they haven't got a game on Saturday 20thgrin.gif What's going on lads?

It has always been my understanding that county matches come before league matches.

I beleive FA matches supercede county matches though.

Could be wrong though..... As often county FA's give way to league matches, so perhaps it is just a case that a County FA could insist upon their match taking precidence but never really insist upon it, hoping that their matches will simply be fitted in prior to the deadline for that round, and if it isn't then so be it.

I think it is more a case that County FA's prefer that clubs take the county cups seriously, hence why some will fine league clubs if they choose not to take part.

Probably doesn't answer you - but this is my thinking behind it all.....

Coachie being serious with this suggestion.

Email your mate at the Essex FA, he might decide to intervene and make Redbridge play you on the scheduled date.

I think it is all a cunning plan mate, so that you can be in the 5th round draw.

a county cup fixture comes before a League match, quite simply you dont agree to play next Thursday as theres no reason why you cant play on Tuesday the 16th,if Redbridge forgot about your match and re arranged this League match then they have to rectify the mistake with the opposition and the Ryman League.Quite simply they can move a League match to play in the County Cup but not vice versa.

Coachie, what I don;t understand is how a team is allowed to play in more than 1 County Cup competition. I thought you could only play in the County competition to whom you were affiliated. If that were the case, they could have played on the 2nd!

Leyton and Barking also play in both.

Only your primary county cup tie can take precedence over a League fixture. Redbridge's primary county is the London FA so only the London Senior Cup takes precedence over their Ryman League fixtures. As the Essex FA is only their secondary county, they have to fit Essex Senior Cup ties in as and when they can.

Thanks for clarifying the situation Football Man,im sure most peoples reaction will be 'why do Redbridge need to play in two County Cups'.
